Alright. I'm not sure it is only me but encountered lately quite often 'Finns saved Latin being replaced by Church Latin' mentality. No idea about its origin but seems like Latin is making compact.

According history, commoners around here has spoken traditionally Finnish, nobility and members of higher status has spoken Swedish while educated scream spoke latin; Helsinki's and Turku's universities did have 'latin' as 'set language' so late as until mid of 19th century if I recall right.

So instead being 'lost' somewhere, Latin used to be super-elite language instead. And I guess it still has status value; it allow you step out from mass.

And another reason why we maybe think as saviours of Latin is weekly popcasted news read in Latin I guess. It is send all around the globe and as far as I know, it is only of its kind.

Anyhow, according my own experiences (I don't speak Latin myself apart few words) and what I have told (sometimes there is no other options but listen...), even small spelling or grammar error may cause fun for days - or really taunt someone badly.

Thank you for and her characters (Finland, Sweden, Åland, Sister Sweden and Finland's awesome armchair) from Scandinavia and the World comic.
While haven't encountered yet Vatican or Malta, both are potentially already existing; ones seen here are not probably one to one if they appears in Humon's comics.

Being taunted is Finland's speciality I guess so pulling out something from this Latin setup was possible. However, only time we usually hear any kind of Latin around here from TV is during Christmas - there is no other reason to placing the events for time it is happening.

Also, Sweden x Åland combo was needed to take down angry Finland. Originally Finland was tied up but by Åland until he would behave but it didn't actually worked too well as I didn't find a connection to grammar book.
Sister Sweden's suggestions are generally much more fruitful in Finland's case than any sort of extorting I guess.

Vatican is really old and old fachionated man who kept living in attic almost seventy years [Roman Question] after young Italy moved in without asking first.
When he was younger, he used to be some sort of puppeteer for many other countries, in good and in bad. But now he is much weaker but focuses well-being of those who listen.

On other hand, (Sir) Malta used to be Vatican's Loyal Supporters and even in good shape, Malta isn't youngster either. Malta is pretty stubborn and martially skilled person but also mute I think. O.o Somehow I expect various flag wavings instead words from Malta's direction.
Also, at least until his/her sister/brother appears, I cannot tell which one Malta is due mystery left by closed vizor.
