This is the logical fallacy know as "argumentum ad populum." Popularity =/= quality, necessarily.

Also, I don't get why people hating a movie that has a lot of fans is taken as an affront to the fans. Why can't the fans just like it, and let others dislike it if they want to? It's one thing if someone directly insults you for liking a movie, but barring that, just let people like what they like, and let it be.

Sales don't define a movie. Memorable plots, characters, settings, score, cinematography define a movie.
All Frozen ever did was add a new princess. I don't hate the movie but I hate how overhyped it's become and people think it's the greatest film ever. 30 minutes into the film I was having a hard time keeping my eyelids up. How To Train Your Dragon 2 at least kept me intrigued, dumbfounded, emotional and joyous.

I like Frozen; I know all the songs, I own the DVD, the characters are fun to draw, but it just wasn't "the best movie ever made" in my opinion. (And also the fact that it was way too hyped up.) There was just too much missing from it. One of the many reasons to prove this is the very fragile plot. Each scene just doesn't seem to flow nicely together. (I heard they're making a Broadway musical version of Frozen. If they follow through with this, I hope they change a few things to make the plot flow a little better.) There's also many more such as; lack of character development, lack of true emotion, too much dialogue - not enough feeling from the heart, very predictable, + the internet getting annoying about it, etc... (Everyone just needs to let it go.... But seriously, get over it.) Oh, and I'd be very upset if they ever made a sequel. That will just drive me nuts. My only opinion is that if they ever make a sequel, they should make it a prequel and show Hans' life before the Coronation. A Frozen Prequel named; Hans. He's so mysterious, and I'd actually like to see how he became so "evil". Hans is my favourite character out of all of them. [Anyone ever consider that he might be just as misunderstood as Elsa?]

"Bad" has many definitions, from sentimental quality to practical quality to artistic quality. Frozen tops on the first two, but definitely not the last part. Each segment stands on it's own, and the second segment is by far the most important, however to a good percentage of deviants, I think the third segment is the most prized--because this IS an art site, not that everyone here draws, etc.

The only people who can say "a bad movie doesn't make $1.2 billion" is the company that rakes in those profits and anyone who liked the movie but just can't stand that others are allowed to not like it. What's worse is people who will defend the movie to the death against someone else who loved the movie... but that someone else happens to admit the movie was riddled with flaws as far as quality work is concerned.
Think about that...
Two fans. Both love the film. One admits that it was no work of art due to needless quality flaws, so the second fan hates on them, bashes and rips them to pieces. Over a fictional story. Dafuq.
Nothing fictional is worth hating real people over, especially when those real people merely look at things in an analytical light.

I love when someone's willing to "defend" something they love. Just make sure it's not going too far. It's a fictional story. Real people are more important. Let them have their hate, if they hate it. Let them love it but point out it's shortcomings. They let you love it for all it is, why not return the favor?



* I only added in all that due to the lovely bullshit I was reading in the comments below this one. Basically seeing a lot of "if people hate what I love, then there's something wrong with them." How conceited is that? That's hating the haters, which makes everyone a hater. The difference is those who hate the movie only hate something that's fictional, those who hate the haters are hating real people. THAT is pathetic and highly immoral. At least the people who hate Frozen aren't immoral for doing so.
