And now the four linearts that I've posted this last week all together, in the format they'll be when I get around to coloring them. I may separate the panels out a little bit, but that'll wait until later to decide.I also did a little bit of fixing, so you'll see that these versions aren't quite the same - Hakkai's mouth, hair, and shirt are slightly different, I removed the strands of hair that were defying the laws of logic and going in front of Gojyo's hand, Sanzo's got a cigarette now courtesy of *emtigereyes showing me how to redo the hand and his shoulder has been reduced to normal proportions, and I haven't touched Goku because he hasn't been up long enough for people to start telling me what's wrong with him.
Now on to another project for the moment...

Gah.. O__O That is...wow. I've seen a lot of Saiyuki fanart but only a handful can draw them as close to the creator's style, and you are in the top 3.

Heehee, thanks! Yah, Hakkai's on a four-string bass and Gojyo's on the six-string lead guitar. Sanzo gets a little bit easier to draw once you realize his head is shaped like a lightbulb. XD

Very nice lineart. You got their expressions-if they're ever to be in a band- down pat. I love the over-all picture too, and it kind of reminds me of the series' opening songs, for some reason. ^^
...I'm also squeeing fangirlishly as you made Hakkai play bass.

wow, like this is a really cool picture but it just seems like they are all in the wrong posistions. Like Sanzo looks like hes about to sing a long boring love ballad while Goku and Gojyo look like they are rocking out to a hard core song. It would make more sence if Gojyo would be lead singer, Goku was guitar, Sanzo on base, and Hakkai on drums. Goku just seems too hyper to be behind a drum set.
but its a really well done picture.

The instruments assigned to them is partly their personalities and functions in the group. Sanzo's the emo leader with the other guys backing him up. Hakkai is the calm one providing the bass line that ties them al together and keeps them from zinging out every which way on their own, the one that you don't notice is there but yuo'd definitely notice if he were gone, Gojyo provides the color, high emotions, and temperamental public face, and Goku's the fundamental beat at the bottom of the group.
And you do know that drummers are traditionally the craziest, wildest, insanest members of the band?
If it makes you feel beter, assume they're photographs taken during different songs. The lights are completely different for each character anyway, so they've got a different lighting scheme for each song. XD

The lineart is really nice, I can't see anything wrong with any of it.
What do you use to get the lines so nice like that? (I apoligize for asking if someone else has already asked a thousand times already.)

That picture, I used generic Micron-type tech pens - the .005 size to do the first outline, then went back with a .5 to thicken it up in places, especially in spots where lines met. After I scanned it in, I used Photoshop to clean it up, erase lines I'd screwed up on, make lines that didn't run into other lines taper at the ends, and so on.

I haven't had a chance to comment on the others, but I like the small changes you've made to Sanzo and Gojyo here. They seem more right now, though I couldn't have told you earlier what was bugging me about them. I absolutely love what you've done with Goku's picture. The drumset looks perfect to me.
