Description Commission for , featuring his Zootopia character, Keanan Howliwell! This picture involves his character looking through a mirror, seeing a version of himself that exists in the darker version of Zootopia - the one wear predators must wear shock collars. Was it part of the commission to draw both or did you add one extra for fun?

I like the way you drew the collar.

For those that would like these kinds of stories, there are a few out there:

from the wiki I help to maintain on r/zootopia

www.reddit.com/r/zootopia/wiki…

Through a glass, darkly
www.fanfiction.net/s/11910095/…

the Zistopia comic

These are all pretty adult/mature due to violence, blood, etc, so read at your own risks yeah?

I really like how this is portrayed. Those deleted scenes were an eye opener and very well liked. Two sides of a personality. It looks amazing.

Most people would see that world and be glad they don’t live in it.

Good people would see that world and be glad it doesn’t exist.

And then there are the off-kilters who would see that world and dream of changing it, don't you agree?

Thanks a lot again for this, Tem Always love to see your style of drawing.

First step of infecting Tem with the idea of mismatched reflection accomplished X D

Tallowick In reply to elzataerinn [2018-01-12 11:29:14 +0000 UTC]

You seem to like mirrors. I find the theme quite interesting; the idea that mirrors are windows into alternate realities, that they don't only show what is, but what may be. I also like stories that explore "the world behind the mirror", like 'Alice through the looking glass', or the short reference to it in 'Johnathan Strange and Mister Norrel'

The way the glasses are designed is pretty cool too. Was that you or Tem?

elzataerinn In reply to Tallowick [2018-01-13 02:46:56 +0000 UTC]

A mirror shows you not who you are but who it thinks you are

----

Random off-track words of somewhat-wisdom aside, Yeah, I guess you can say I am fascinated by the idea of strange mirrors, although for me, I lean more towards mirrors that show wrong reflection than mirrors that work as gateways to other worlds.

As for the glasses (or as I personally call em, visorglass), that's my idea.

I'm so glad they didn't have the shock collars in the final version. It was just too dark, plus it made Zootopia seem like such a terrible place to be, and I wanted to explore it and discover every wonder it had to offer.Β

elzataerinn In reply to Kelaiah [2018-01-12 07:48:06 +0000 UTC]

I can agree with you in a way. Much as I don't have a particular qualm against Zoodystopia in and on itself, I can understand why many people will consider that too depressing.

Nevertheless, given that I have read a few Zoodystopia fanfics that actually managed to work without being way too angsty (as in, still depressing in some parts, but not too "OMGeveryone'semo" kind of thing), I guess Zoodystopia just needed.... I dunno, the right publisher? My theory is that Disney, despite whatever nasty crap they have managed to cram into their recent movies (Tangled, Frozen and Zootopia, for example), have been TOO well known as family-friendly entertainment studio, and thus Zoodystopia's dreariness is just too much for them. Had that script been handled by another studio that unlike Disney is well-established as gritty, I can imagine people are probably more accepting.

Ah, theories

Lol, well the glasses look like safety glasses and the mirror looks like one of the blast/bullet-proof screens they use; only problem with that interpretation though is that β€˜Jamie’ is lacking his trademark hat and shirt and both are lacking their trademark facial hair πŸ˜‚
