Description Commission for Oddwilde22 on Tumblr, featuring his character Chase once again! The poor guy is having trouble with a schematic he's working on. But nobody said high speed locomotives were easy to work on!

The same is the case with me when I solve mathematical problems. For Physics, I’m an expert, but for mathematics, my brain stops. I’ve always made this face expression while I’m solving mathematical problems. Therefore, I know how it feels.

studying to be an airframe and power plant technician i know this pain. its sucks at times but the worst part is trying to remember the FAA regulations that go along with everything you do.Β

Hehe, thank you very much, Tem.. I didn't think you were envy at all, though.. I was too excited with the EXTREMELY ones..Β Β

Yeah, it is very stressful having that situation when the deadline is close as well. I was desperate, well, too many timesΒ Β

Thank you so much for bringing the art, Tem.. It's impeccableΒ Β

Lovely thoughtful expression. And a curious design, going from very streamlined at the front to a rather conventional rear ...

Temiree In reply to JuanaIgushi [2017-11-10 12:57:51 +0000 UTC]

I imagine that it's the first cart! The rear would be streamlined.

(I say this as an excuse because the schematic I used was a public domain one I modified to look more modern.)

Is that Autocad? Strangely doubtful...

And wait... Oliver, already tired of your four-wheeler and now aiming to build a cross-country speed machine?

But eitherway, another home run from you, Tem

AlfaDreamer22 In reply to elzataerinn [2017-11-09 03:30:55 +0000 UTC]

Actually this is just a light rail redesign. My characters aim is much faster and more powerful than this. But that's for much later down the road. He's just starting out.

elzataerinn In reply to AlfaDreamer22 [2017-11-09 08:23:28 +0000 UTC]

Light as in lightweight frame build (the steel and materials) or light as in lightweight machine power (small machine)?

Though either way, what you just said does make me think... Is there some kind of minimum weight limit for any vehicle to work? Especially for heavy-machine such as locomotive? Would a too-featherweight a train flip out of the rails at high speeds or vice versa?

Thanks for the inspiring question

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AlfaDreamer22 In reply to elzataerinn [2017-11-09 14:58:15 +0000 UTC]

A heavy undercarriage frame and body structure. Carbon fiber body and composite materials. To keep it on the rails at higher speeds downforce from a body shape that would more the air smoothly across the nose channeling the air around its nose and down the body as a low pressure. Larger in size but lighter in weight than anything in Its class.

elzataerinn In reply to AlfaDreamer22 [2017-11-10 02:30:36 +0000 UTC]

... Ooookay, I think that will take some time to digest

So you're saying the locomotive will be bottom heavy, and shaped such that the cross-section-wise the locomotive is triangular or whatever shape it is to permit faster air flow at near ground level, causing the slower air flow above the locomotive (or locomotive wings, maybe) to press down creating the downforce or something?

Man, I should really have studied automobile manufacturing instead of whatever I studied the last time
