Description This took around 90 minutes to do, and I had a lot of fun doing this. I just got into reading Redwall again recently and wanted to do a landscape pic. Essentially just a picture of Mossflower Woods, a less then dense part of it I'd imagine.

Additionally, I should mentioned my glasses broke and the screen is a bit blurry. Therefore, I'm going to wait a few days and avoid commissions/trades/collabs till my new ones are made, and just do some practice stuff.

Enjoy!

I used to own the role playing version.
but had no one to play with, so I sold it.
I wish my friends were not so lame.

It's very nice, love the detail in the trees.

But... I haven't lost my glasses, and it's still blurry. Not the smallview - that's nice and crisp - but the trees in the large view seem to be blurred or softened. I love that same blur effect on the grass, but I've always expected trees to stand out more. It's not a detail thing, the detail is great, it's just that the edges of the trees don't seem as delineated as many of the trees I see are.

On the other hand, maybe trees for a fictionverse shouldn't be sharply delineated. I dunno.

I like that you've used different types of trees.

I can't decide which tree is my fav - the tree to the far right, halfway out of view, or the really tall one just the the left of the path at the curve. I really like the depth in both of them.

Congrats on +ability with -vision!

I really do need to get over the blurryness in my landscapes, I totally agree. I might try something tonight on a sharper painting.

I'm glad you noticed the different types of trees. Got tired of doing generic ones all the time.

Thanks!

In a way, it helps make them more realistic, because the edges of things blur in real life, when you aren't focusing on them. But then, it's sometimes not useful.

Yes - I like the non-generic trees.

You're welcome!

Oh Wow, you too? I'm not so sure why I love summer so much (perhaps, I was born in June!), lol! Fall is getting darker in Environment, so yes indeed, it's not my favorite time of the year.
Well, the expression and atmosphere on this piece are brilliant! I wish you the best of luck to continue great natural pieces!

with all the fields that have been described near the abbey, I always imagined the general vcicinity of Redwall itself as something like this. Nice and lush like this, all fields and grasshopper chirps in dense hot midsummer, maybe even a little dusty, but with woods all around. I think you nailed it

I always pictured mossflower from reading the books as a dense forest as youve said this looks less dense but its a new and unique take on the redwall environment. Once again you never cease to amaze, 90 min for such a beautiful piece is astounding . Compositionally I think its well put together, the road and trees arent right in the center which lets you move around the page. I see a that the thirds rule is used whether intentional or not . Cant wait to see more.
