Hooves for a commission. These were built over a high heeled shoe with the heel cut off (provided by customer).Yes, those ARE real horse-shoes, they were the largest size we could find that wasn't a draft horse shoe. These babys are heavy as sin, but they sure make an impact. I don't think I'll be walking around on any tiled surfaces with these babys on, but they make a cute "clop clop" sound on concrete.

A tip from one horse to another: Smooth concrete floors are slippery when hoofed. One solution is to use anti-slip bathtub strips over the steel. They are removable afterwords.

How much are these for commission? And can you make them with white fur as well and without the horse shoes? I want to wear the hooves on my faun costume 15 and 16 September. Can they be finished and sent by then?

They're basic steel. I went shoe shopping with the customer at a ferrier supply store and she picked them out.
Both the Aluminum and plastic varieties were turned down.

This is pretty amazing. Can you really walk & balance in them easily? Where in the world do you get REAL horse hooves!?

Ferrier supply stores carry horse shoes.
They are fine to walk in, but once you stop, it's hard to hold your balance.

Wow! They're wonderful! If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are the hooves made of? I mean, besides a pair of heel-free shoes, horseshoes, and faux fur?
I made a really crappy pair of hooves for a satyr costume this past year for the renaissance faire, but they were horribly cracked by the end of the day (car bondo did not work so good). I really, really feel the need to re-do them with something stronger, but I'm not sure what.
If you have any suggestions, I would be extremely grateful.

These are bondo coated in Rubber latex. With gentle care they last (the hoof also adds a lot of structural integrity).
IF you want to use a harder material, it all comes down to cost. Fiberglass and carbon fiber can be plenty strong.

Goodness! Those are the BEST damn hooves I have ever seen! You seriously did a good job! I hope my costume comes out as good as these. It isnt a hooved creature, its a bobcat, but the detail I hope is as good as these. Awesome job!
