Is it weird that I really wanted these two to hook up? They didn't have a "grand, dramatic romance of the ages" or a forbidden love, but I thought what they had was charming in its simplicity and very true to life.

Oooh, I just love how you captured the tragic dynamic between these two in this beautiful picture! Man, those dang Stricklake feels The way she's looking up into his face, tears running down her cheeks, clearly conflicted, hurt, but still wanting him, still loving him even after what he's done, just breaks my heart. And the way she's pushing him away almost heart-heartedly, almost looking like it might turn into an embrace, captures that conflict so well.
And man, Stricklander, wow. I just love his pose. The desperateness on his face, the way he's leaning in towards her, his arm half around her as if he's just longing to hold her but knows he shouldn't, knowing that he's lost her... ughhh!!! The feels!
I love the dramatic lighting that gives the picture just the right mood too. And I love that you can see the glow of his eyes off her glasses - such a nice touch.
It's just a lovely, heart-breaking piece and captures all the angst that I love about this ship. I hope so stinking hard that by the end of the show he tells her he's sorry and that he means it from his heart and that she looks him in the eyes and forgives him. And them being able to pick up the strings of what they had without the lies and deceit and two-faced games between them would be icing on the cake for me Thanks for sharing this amazing piece of fanart with us!

Such a poetic artwork... the way Barbara is just so tensely and painfully pushing him away a bit; how he's in his true appearance but hurting as he tries to match it with his heart...
