Description
Persephone has always been one of my favourite goddesses. I was always fascinated that despite her unfortunate circumstance (being kidnapped and forced into marrying her kidnapper), she grew to love Hades, who loved her enough to let her go for part of the year to be with her loved ones. Her complex, opposite roles in the four seasons played out like yin and yang, although she is more commonly associated with the underworld than spring. And of course, the unlikely coupling between the god of the dead and a goddess of spring is the perfect contrast that is all at once, surprising yet beautiful.
