Description On Thursday, October 20, 1977, a Convair CV-300 ran out of fuel and crashed near the end of its flight from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines (Steve's sister), assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray were all killed in that crash. But uh...dude.....you forgot Leon Wilkeson (bass guitar) & Billy Powell (piano, organ, & keyboard) who were both also in the 1973 lineup!

The reason Wilkeson was left out was because he left the band early and only did bass on "Mississippi Kid" and "Tuesday's Gone". Powell I think was omitted for space. But you're right. I fixed the description to include them.

From what I understand, Gary Rossington is the only one whose still with the band today.
(Although I forgot which one in the picture is him)
