There is a story behind this image; a long story. It all started the day baby Laeriel was rescued by Harlequins and would eventually lead to these characters crossing paths with one another.
Long ago, the Masque of the Miraculous Carnival had committed an atrocity on a farming village on an Imperial agro world.Β The village was destroyed, and a majority of the residents were slaughtered mercilessly. This deed was done to save the life of an infant eldar, Laeriel, who would then be adopted by the light troupe master, Arrolyth Demanh'go.
Imperials opened up an investigation on the matter, and an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, Theophilus Von Geigorivich , picked up on the case. Theophilus would see to it the xeno culprits would be caught and brought to justice for their crimes. His long investigation eventually lead him to the Masque of the Miraculous Carnival. He would not seek them out himself, but instead would send teams of acolytes to hunt them down and bring them to justice. The Masque had sanctuary in the Webway, but would risk the chance of meeting the acolytes on other worlds. The consistant presence of these acolytes would get in the way of the masques performances and priorites to the point it put Laeriel's life at risk. Arrolyth wanted to end this harrasment and get these Ordo Xenos acolytes off the masque's trail. He needed to know what Imperial mon-keigh had the audacity to send these assassins, and that's when a rogue trader stepped in to help.
Rogue Trader Masari Bonnefoy was interested in trading with Harlequins, and she saw an opportunity with the Miraculous Carnival. It was rare that Arrolyth would work with humans; he regarded most to be untrustworthy, and the target of his cruel jokes. However, Masari Bonnefoy proved herself to be somewhat trusted, and the safety of his daughter was more important than his pride. Arrolyth and Masari conspired a trade together; Masari would find out which Inquisitor was sending these acolytes and assassins, and in return Arrolyth would supply her some drukhari weapons + daggers supplied by their knife juggler. (The daggers were drukhari-style but with a Harlequin twist).
Β Masari Bonnefoy and the Miraculous Carnival met on a deserted dead planet to do their trade off. Arrolyth brought the supply of drukhari weapons and daggers while the rogue trader brought an informant. The informant, an Inquisitorial acolyte of the Administratum, held essential information on Inquisitor Theophilus Von Geigorivich and his wearabouts, why he was hunting the masque, and his vulnerabilities. The informant was reluctant to talk, but Arrolyth and the masque would have ways to force the information out of her. The trade was made, and the two parties went their separate ways.
Don't worry, that poor Inquisitorial acolyte of the Administratum will be alright... they'll just suffer from severe coulrophobia for the rest of their existence.... if they live.
