aw. I like your contrast of Bilbo's journey as the plucky, dorky hobbit at the start to the burdened, sorrowful older hobbit he was by the end.
Even though I have issues with many of Jackson's director's decisions, I did really like Gandalf's warning "If you do return, you will not be same."
I believe that whole conversation wasn't actually in the Hobbit book. And it was cool how Jackson and Ian Mcckellon managed that.

Oh, I love this! Very effective portrayal of Bilbo's change from the carefree hobbit he was when he left the Shire to the jaded creature standing on top of Ravenhill after the battle. Very emotional!
