I wanted to give Cadence a more Crystal Empire look than the other princesses. She is distantly related to Pinkie Pie, so I also based her off a morgan horse.

Cadence doesn't remember her birth parents. Her mom was killed when she was just a newborn and her father ran away after his empire was attacked. Though her mother gave her one last gift, she froze her within an ancient relic for when she was safe to be released and take back her empire. Luna wanted her to be set free now and she and Celestia would raise her. Celestia knew she couldn't handle another filly, let alone a constant reminder of her sister so she hid Cadence away. Celestia, many years later, would later see no sign of the empire returning and knew she couldn't rule Equestria forever alone after banishing Luna. She gave her to two close friends, one of who was on the unicorn council. She was raised as a normal pegasus filly in Canterlot and while her birth name was Mi Amore Cadenza her new parents just called her Cadence. She wasn't told anything about her royal heritage or being a lost princess of another empire. Though Celestia always kept her close by to watch. After all, her running into Shining Armor was no coincidence. The two became best friends as the only two children of the unicorn council. Shining Armor dreamed of becoming a knight and captain of the royal guard. Cadence wanted to be a foalsitter or maybe a teacher. When she became a teenager, she met Celestia for the "first" time. Celestia saw Amore in her and offered her a chance to train as her student. Cadence wasn't all that thrilled about it, but her parents were ecstatic. She wouldn't get to spend as much time with Shining Armor or be a normal pegasus. However after being pressured by her parents, she accepted. Celestia let her move into the castle and taught her from the time to sun rose to sunset everyday. She attended council meetings, royal parties, delegations from other regions, anything Celestia could include her in she did. Until Celestia found Cadence on her rooftop late one night. She explained to Celestia that she was grateful for the opportunity, but she missed her old life, Shining Armor, and foalsitting. Celestia came up with an idea, Shining Armor had a little sister born not long after Cadence started to live at the castle with Twilight Velvet in the council they could use a foalsitter, she could also spend time with Shining Armor and get more personal with the other members of the council. Cadence couldn't wait! On the day she foalsat Twilight for the first time, she got her cutiemark. She had passion, love, and determination. Everything her mother Amore had long ago. Shortly after that Celestia knew it was time. She asked Cadence to come to the throne room while she was out playing with Shining Armor and Twilight. Celestia told her the truth about who she was and who she wanted her to become. She let Cadence choose if she wanted to keep just her wings and live out her life as a normal pony or she could join Celestia and one day rule Equestria alongside her.

When she ran out to Shining Armor, he was excited to have a friend he could teach magic now. Shining Armor's grandfather offered Cadence a betrothal to Shining Armor. Shining would become captain of the royal guard one day and Cadence would get to marry her best friend. Cadence had never felt a romantic attraction to anypony and who better than her best friend? She accepted and when Twilight came of age they would have their wedding. Years passed and Cadence would continue her studies with Celestia and ruling with her until Twilight saved Luna and Luna returned to rule by Celestia's side. This gave Cadence much more free time and Shining Armor's grandfather brought up the wedding. The older stallion was getting weaker and weaker by the day and wanted to be able to see his grandson's wedding. So, they started preparations and sent out invitations. Little did Cadence know that the stallion's wife was actually Queen Chysalis feeding on his love. That night she struck and kidnapped the princess to take her place. When she switched bodies she was seen and her dark magic alerted Shining Armor. After she had taken Cadence's place, she claimed she had been attacked and feared for her life. Shining Armor's grandfather wouldn't make it much longer and they continued the wedding plans. Twilight would come to the rescue again and save Cadence and the wedding. Cadence and Shining Armor knew the marriage was just bonding the two of them they both could feel the truth. Cadence didn't love him romantically and Shining didn't love her that way either. They were trying to figure out how to make it work when suddenly the Empire rose again, and they were sent to protect it. Twilight being the amazing sister she is, would come and help and save the day as always. Cadence was offered to return to Canterlot or stay and rule the Crystal Empire. Cadence wanted to know about where she came from and agreed to rule the crystal ponies, Shining Armor was sad to leave Canterlot behind but also felt a pull to the Empire and wanted to know what path it would lead them on. Cadence had never felt romantic attraction to anypony but knew the feeling when she did spells to remind ponies why they loved each other however her true passion was with foals. She knew that now that they were rulers, they would have to have an heir someday. Cadence asked Shining Armor and he was reluctant but agreed to try. A few days later Tirek attacked Canterlot and Celestia requested Cadence join her there. Shining Armor stayed in the Crystal Empire but little did Cadence know that would be the last time she would see him. She would be trapped in Tartarus when Discord would attack and the Crystal wall would rise, trapping Shining Armor off from the rest of Equestria or knowing what happened to Cadence.

Discord trapped Tirek in Tartarus with Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. Tirek had gone to great lengths to find something, his brother's egg. When he arrived Cozy Glow would hatch. Tirek didn't trust anyone with Cozy, she was all he had left. Cadence would discover she was pregnant shortly after. She had lost her kingdom, her best friend, and her home but she had hope. She knew the foal would be powerful, she could feel it. After Flurry Heart was born Tirek trusted Cadence with Cozy Glow. He, Celestia, and Luna started building them a castle within Tartarus and they would be gone days at a time, but he always came to visit. After they built the castle they gave Cadence her own nursery. There was no telling how fast Flurry would grow or how strong her magic would ever become. Hopefully enough to get them out one day. But Celestia and Luna came up with backup plans, Luster and Morpheus. After they were born, they were given to Cadence to watch over. Tirek wasn't a horrible father to them and even took in Flurry. He and Cadence would raise the foals and develop their magic becoming very close despite Celestia and Luna's dismay. Cadence would come to love the centaur and their little family. As the foals grew so did their bond. Flurry was just like her father, both Shining Armor and Tirek. She was passionate, skilled in any battle, powerful like her grandmother and aunt, but Flurry lacked a reason to fight the way she did. She wasn't remorseful, merciful, or honorable. She would fight dirty, but she never lost. Morpheus took a lot after Cadence, he was kind and considerate but also lazy. He could dreamwalk and even talk to ponies outside Tartarus in their dreams. Luster was strong but easily distracted and clumsy. She could open the portals, keeping them open or even being big enough to fit through was the hard part. Cozy much to the dismay of the others had no magic at all. But she was always willing to cheer on her siblings and spread joy to her family. Cadence missed Shining Armor but she liked her life. She wanted a future for her kids but deep down wished that they could live normal lives in Tartarus and not have to worry about going back.
