I'm just going to say it. I am PROUD of myself, because I finally said to myself, "Self. You are going to bite the bullet and try cell shading." And then I DID. And it wasn't a complete and utter FAILURE. And thus, I am PLEASED. Naturally, this is far, far, far from perfect. To be completely honest, I didn't know what the hell I was doing. But bearing that in mind, I think it came out fairly decently. And another thank-you to deviant dreor, whose suggestions salvaged the lineart on this.
Aaaanyway. Ashes again, my newest X-universe creation. There's one other picture of this character in my gallery, but at that point she was just a physical concept and I didn't know squat about her in terms of personality or history. Now I've got a slightly better sense of the character, and so I was able to incorporate a bit more soul into this depiction, I think.
Now I'm off to work on my kiriban~

Excellent. This character not only comes with an awesome look (and much better in her own cloths I might add) but an interesting background and story to boot. Awesome work with the cell-shading style, see that didn't hurt to bad did it? Need to get some food in her, she skeeny and her pants appear to be falling off!

I'm not sure what exactly constitutes as an "odd" facial expression, but from my perspective, this certainly isn't it. Quite the contrast - her expression here exudes confidence, perhaps a bit of cunning as well: bot of which add a great deal to her character. Also, given the fact that she's generating a highly concentrated light source, the "contrasty" noted in the previous comment works well.
That said, I LOVE your cell shade Ems - definitely hope to see you play more with this style of color, and this character. Her streaked hair, and the choice of colours in it, are really appealing. Tres sweet, love!

I think it looks nice, a bit too contrasty on the mainly all shaded leg, and the face has a somewhat odd expression, but other then that, it's really nice.
