Megaraptor namunhuaiquii, once believed to be a gigantic dromaeosauid, was in fact, a Neovenatorid, or as some scientists believe , a spinosaurid. He lived in South America during the middle cretaceous. It had a huge 35 cm sickle shaped claw that was once thought sat on his foot but it really was on his hand as recently found out. However megaraptor is now believed to be a neoventorid a family of allosaurs that had all very big hand claws. Megaraptors claw however was immense even for a neovenatorid. Megaraptor is estimated to have reached a size of 8 metres and a weight of 1-2 tons. Megaraptor was probably a fast runnner and hunter that could even take on sauropods with its giant claw. If theyhunted in packs, they would have been an even bigger threat to herbivores and maybe even competed with giants such as giganotosaurus. Megaraptor means giant or enormous thief. How he looked is a mistery so all reconstructions are hypothetical, because only the claw was found.
