Description
The redtail catfish is a true freshwater monster. Its scientific name is phractocephalus hemioliopterus. He is a very big catfish measuring up to 1,3 metres in lengh and its also one of the most beatiful catfishs in my opinion. He has a red tail fin and lives in the amazon together with other gigantic catfishs like the humongous Piraiba or goliath ctafish that can reach up to 3,6 metres in lengh or the Arapaima that can grow up to 3 metres in lengh( Some second hand reports say that a single speciemen was found with a lengh of 4,5 metres but tis is unconfirmed). Red tailed catfish are also called pirarara or cajaro by locals. They are kept as aquarium fishes too and I´m thinking of buying one too when I am 18 .
