I believe the fairies are a bit too glorified, all goldenhaired, nice, friendly, sprinkling fairydust everywhere.
I believe the fairies / elves / Aes Sídhe are a bit more "vicious" than we picture them.
I've tried to draw them, but somehow they don't turn out like I imagine them, they tent to be too "friendly" and "nice" looking.
I imagine them like the "fairies" in the Torchwood episode Small Worlds (Season 1 episode 5). Scary Aes Sídhe
