From my series of pictures named with a song title Take A Bow- MuseRather a political edge to the song, but after being so fired up by it at Wembley, I had to do a pic for it. Muse ended the gig with this, and it was incredible.

Rather, it looks like the one in Singapore. I believe there are several of these memorials around the world and they would all be similar I suppose.
They plant the flowers of the soldiers homeland beside the headstone.

That is a war memorial in Singapore.
I went there on a day trip during my exchange to Singapore.
It is beutiful, that place, very well kept.

Hm, since you want advanced critique... I'm not sure what it is exactly, but something about this image is a little off, in kind of a photo-manip way. I think it's actually the colors, the color palette for the different stocks you used is somewhat different, also there's the heavily-edited fire and the purplish smoke clouds, the foreground seems to be somewhat at odds with the background. I would also say that the lighting could be a little better, maybe make the figures a little brighter, since the whole image looks kind of dark and murky, however I jabbed my left eye with my finger this morning and really messed it up, so my vision is blurry and crap right now and I don't know if I'm seeing it right. Anyway.
I have "Black Holes and Revelations," it's all right, but I don't think it's quite as good as "Absolution" or "Origin of Symmetry." "Absolution was, IMHO, the best Muse album so far.

yeah. im kinda learning to photomanip, so it's not the best it could be. it is meant to be dark- somewhat apocalyptic. i did use 'match colour' with the images, so i'm not sure what else i can do there.
you mentioned the foreground doesn't fit with the background. how so?

Sorry took so long to get back to you... Well, first of all, I'd make the pic smaller, resize to 60% of the current size. That way, it'll fit in the average person's browser window, there won't be much loss of detail, and the seams will be less visible. As for the image itself, first of all, the light source on the guy's face is really bright and sharp, the rest of his body (wings and such) is barely lighted, the girl's face is also bright and sharp, and on the gravestones it's sharp but very dim. If, somehow, everything in the scene was lighted consistently, it would make the whole thing much more believable. Also, you might want to just make the scene brighter, or maybe up the contrast... I know you darkened it to make it well, darker, but the way it's now, it just looks uniformly murky and lacks focus, makes one want to squint. The fire too, the use of the smudge tool is a little too obvious. Now, I don't know what your original fire stock looked like, but I would recommend judicious use of the clone stamp tool, if you want to add to it in a more realistic way. I just opened your image in Photoshop and played around with it - resized, did Auto Levels, then played around with Levels a little more to make the highlights brighter, tweaked Color Balance to add more yellow, tweaked Hue/Saturation in the Green channel to make the grass less noticeable since the bright green was distracting, and finally, upped both Brightness and Contrast. I can upload the before/after results to my scraps and show you, if you would like.

i did make it smaller, but for some reason, it didn't change. hopefully it has changed now, but i can do some more mods on the picture, since i still have it in .psd. just a matter of getting the time to play with it. after previous suggestions to use match colour, i used it, but it obviously didn't do the job i was after!

that is an interesting recolour actually. maybe a little too bright in places, but definitely an improvement. i can't see the pic in full view at the moment. for some reason DA forbids it right now! one of the many bugs they're experiencing. but i'll keep you critique in mind for when i change it. it will be a big help

You saw Muse at the opening night at Wembley?!? *Jealous* I actually got offered a ticket for that, but didn't have the money
The composition on this is brilliant, although I'd say maybe work on the lighting of the scene a bit, blend it all together more... I love the kind of almost unreal fire in the background!

....and now to add more praise, this time mentioning the deviation. Lol. I got distracted by my Muse-worship. Seriously, though, the manip is wonderful. The looks on both of their faces is just spot-on, and the harshness of it is really great. The only thing that bugs me, but that I didn't notice until I saw the full view, was that the outlines of the flames are a tad hokey. Aside from that, it's fab!
