TerraTerror — Recycled Crayon Unicorn

Description We have ladies night at Wintergreen Art Center. Many people come to socialize and work on their projects. We have knitters, quilters, mixed media artists, photographers, writers, painters, etc. Sometime the awesome lady running it distracts us with other fun stuff though. She had a skillet out and she was melting some old crayons upon it. Cutting out candy canes and ornaments, she dipped the paper in the different colors of melted wax. I wanted to do a unicorn because of my unhealthy obsession with them. So I drew one out on some stiff paper. Cutting it out was a pain in the butt yet worth it. And this is how it came out.

Go for it! It's fun and easy. Dinosaurs would look really cool in a rainbow of melted wax.

This is really cool! Thanks for explaining how it was made. Looks like you could do all sorts of projects using this idea. Thanks so much for sharing. Your Unicorn came out beautiful! I have an UN-healthy obsession myself though there aren't any unicorn anonymous groups around!

No problem and thank you for the sweet comment. Oh yeah. If you have some sort of tough construction-like paper you could draw anything, cut it out and dip parts of it in the melted wax. Thanks again.

Do you have a recent reference you'd like me to use? It some of your pictures, it looks as if she has some light green in her mane. Also for her muzzle, should I give her a deer-like nose or like the nose on the unicorn from The Last Unicorn?

Hmm, I think her nose is a little more like The Last Unicorn's, and yes, she does have light green in her mane. ^^ If you'd like, I can post up a reference of her solid colors sometime today.
