Thank you so much! I've known how to crochet for over five years now, and I just recently got into MLP:FIM, thanks to my niece. I'm trying to crochet one for her for Christmas, but I might just end up crocheting her the whole 'mane' six! Thanks a ton for putting this up here!

I attempted this pattern, and the legs are giving me quite a bit of trouble. The decreasing to be exact, leaves huge holes. Should I just get a smaller hook?

For whatever reason the legs turned out really tiny, but I think it still looks good!

omg, so cute!
The legs are actually designed to be a bit short 'cause I was worried about them staying stiff enough to stand up, but you can add an extra row of sc after the "hoof" part if you want 'em longer!

terriko In reply to PressToShoot [2012-08-09 06:47:53 +0000 UTC]
She's using the easier one, the symmetric first head variant. Honestly, it's kind of hard to tell the difference sometimes once they're stuffed.

You're not the only one! I didn't really think about it 'till I saw some long-nosed variants, but I actually do something a bit weird there. My secret is that I barely stuff the nose at all, because then I can move it around after I've sewn the neck/ears on in case it's not quite the way I want it. You might also try adding a little stitch to sew the nose closer to the rest of the head: I often use the tail as a stitch marker and don't bother to pull it out because it gets hidden by the neck, so the nose gets pulled in at the bottom.

Hm, I hadn't thought of that. Probably not anytime soon, but I'll think about it if I can find a reasonable camera to do it. Meanwhile there *are* good videos for amigurumi if you're needing help with any of the specific stitches or techniques!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
terriko In reply to MasterPlanner [2012-04-30 16:56:06 +0000 UTC]
It depends on what size of yarn/hook you use. Fluttershy stands around 5 inches tall, Derpy's a bit shorter, both of them were made with medium weight yarn. If you went with smaller yarn, I'll bet you could make some very tiny ponies!
