Description

The theater in which I first saw this version of The Haunting on its initial release no longer exists -- torn down for a parking lot; however I have this nice little souvenir of the screening: the box office gave ticket buyers "Fear Cards" -- credit card-sized 'mood rings' that, if you held it in your hands while you watched the film, the color on the back would tell you how scared you were. The ghost of William Castle lives...

If you've seen it, you know the movie is rubbish; however the score is not. The purpose here was to enhance the sense of ambient atmosphere by blending otherwise (in the commercial release) overlaid text into the base illustration. I started with a high-rez scan of the teaser poster, and painted out the text, then built up from there. The deluxe edition bar is re-colored to more closely match the diffuse aura surrounding Hill House. As usual, I work for my own edification; however, if you like what you see sufficient to desire marking this album's parcel of real estate in your own digital jukebox, perhaps I've made something for you as well.
