First of all, thank you so much for doing this ~ I've wanted for the longest time to see someone, anyone else doing art of one of my own Fakemon (be it direct fanart, a re-imagining, or whatever). Thank you for giving that to me.
I'm going to be totally honest - when I first looked at him, studied him... I really did not like your interpretation. However, the more I thought about it, the more I began to come to an understanding of the creative decisions you made.
Subsequently, this made me re-evaluate myself as not just a creator of Fakemon, but as an artist. I began comparing your Brushow to my own original Brushow and so many different imaginings flooded my mind...
... is this how Brushow really looks? Have I been drawing it wrong all these years?
... would I improve my original design by infusing it with elements of your design?
... what relationship does this Brushow have with the original Brushow? Forme? Species variation? Mega-Evolution?
It raised a lot of interesting questions for me which I am so looking forward to exploring in the near future.
Thank you once again for this
Also, as a wee side note ~ the link you have provided to the original image is producing an error message

First of all, you're quite welcome
I'm glad you were able to look at it over time and see both your original drawing and the new adjustments I made to both shape and volume. As for design, there really wasn't a lot for me to change. It's one of the most unchanged fanarts I've done, and there were various reasons for that.
One being, I couldn't tell what kind of bird it was, so nothing there. I did what I could to find any sort of unity to the design, and settled on the moon crest shape. I took away the brow line you had, but only to reduce it's agressiveness a little, being that it was more of a pretty painter of color sort of thing. That may/may not have been a good idea. Also, I gave it an eye color. Very arbitrary in my choice there, but the red/purple had a lot going on already, so I popped one of the other colors on the tail w/ the additional green.
Lastly, I wrote a rather lengthy post on another fakemon I did lately that discusses the use of props (like the scarf) in pokemon design. You can read that here: fav.me/d7s7oqd on Croakind. In short, I always try to design pokemon w/o props.
FYI also, fixed the link. Dunno why that happened! My bad.

Sorry, was just off of night shift when I commented and subsequently missed out a couple of points.
One thing that really struck me when looking at him was how de-saturated the colour scheme appears to be.
The other thing I wanted to mention was the blue circle in the bottom right corner - I'm assuming that is indicative of the Flying-type attribute. I am also assuming you removed my own Fake-type (Cloth-type) for obvious reasons. However, the idea of this really interested me as, with the removal of the scarf as a "prop" I realized that there was nothing really identifiable within the design as being a "Cloth-type" and it has actually made me further re-evaluate Brushow and the overall basis of it.
Speaking of which, Brushow takes generic elements from a variety of large, free-standing birds (ostrich, emu, flamingo, etc) and never really had a specific base (although, the actual feet, though obscured in my image, are based off those of an ostrich). Your comments in both the artist's description and in your response about not knowing what kind of bird it was based on also made me consider re-evaluating the design further to make it more clearly defined as a species (ie, giving it more defined attributes to make it identifiable as a real animal, such as how Noctowl is obviously an owl).
I have read bits and bobs of your discussions on props with the other deviants on that image of Croakind and I do agree with you in part. I look at Brushow with the scarf and yours without the scarf and realize that, functionally, the scarf does nothing for the design and is really on there as a tie-in to the pre-evolution (Scarfow).
I think it all depends on how relevant the prop is to the overall design and the Pokémon itself. For example, Farfetch'd and Cubone wouldn't have their designs tied up so neatly without their props, whereas Brushow can survive without its.
