Description Sandwich slinger's my name for us; Subway calls us sub artists, or subologists, which to me sounds like an attempt to sound more important. We just make sandwiches, people. It's not rocket science.

As for the message everyone's favorite slinger is preaching, well... That comes from experience. (Seriously. Do your resident slinger a favor and hang up on your sweetly insistent little old grandma when you get to the counter. She'll forgive you, she's your grandma.)

I am a "sandwich artist" as well, *eye roll* and I have to second your sentiments. It got so annoying we put up a sign asking people to not talk on their cell phones.. it didn't work at all.

Where I work, we're not allowed to, so we just have to put up with it! D; (Though my boss does turn a blind eye to the sneers of loathing we give these people, and indulges in a sneer or two herself. xD She's hilarious.)

Our boss said that it was okay because it would "increase productivity", not having to wait for them to say things over the phone. At least you have a nice boss, though, that can help. My boss can be a real pain, but all of the supervisors are awesome, so it evens out.

lol, I speaks the truth. I usually stand there and ignore them until they hang up, or move on to the next customer while they yammer away. (That really gets them. "I was here first!" "Physically, yes. Mentally, you were on Friday's get-together with Jane Doe on the Phone. Ass." )

LOL! Yeah, I could see how that would really annoy them.

Ten years ago cell phones were just coming into fashion. I shudder to think what new device will be invented in the next ten that will serve as a rude distraction.
