Description MERRY CHRISTMAS, OLIVIA!

Deepest apologies for the seemingly lackluster qality of this gift- times have been trying, and due to a work incident, my wrist has been aching, and thus may account for the sparse background and lack of usual attention to details.

However, here is the gift for my dearest, loveliest friend and spiritual twin, Olivia, the magnificent !

As she had requested for Christmas 2015, a tender moment shared between the 12th Doctor and Clara Oswald.

Initially, it proved difficult to imagine a tender scenario between the Doctor and Clara, given the adreline-driven pace of their escapades. Nonetheless, realizing that in the fictional unvierse of the Doctor Who series, free license with scenarios is well within the permissable parameters for the fans.

Above, the Doctor and Clara, seeking a respite from rescuing planets and peoples from the brink of disasters or resolving cross-galatical crises, are savoring a lulling night at a ball, somewhere in the elegant ballrooms of the once-affluent somewhere in Europe in the 1830's.

Clara's dress is rather anachronsitic in several fashion elements- for example, while her curled coiffure, the "balloon" sleeves and the bell-shaped skirt are decidedly 1830's vogue, the raised bustle is actually oringinating from the mid to late 1870's.
It should be noted that the Doctor's evening ball outfit is actually modeled after the 1860's and 1870's Belle Epoque model for men's formal eveningwear.
However, given that in the series, the Doctor and his companions often show up in various eras in their modern clothing (much to the wonder or disapproving dismay of the denizens they encounter), so their anachronstic apparel would not be entirely out of character in this instance.

Garbed in the festive hues of gold, red and green for Christmas, Clara thoughtfully appreciates this particular Christmas night. In a similar vein, the jaded Doctor actually is quietly savoring the serenity of Clara's company and the winter ball.

If the coloring for the floor designs and the pillar appear smudged or gritty, the quality of the aged lipstick employed had proven more volatile to work with, nonetheless, it created a rustic, marble-esque shade and texture I was aiming for here. The metal fretwork of the latticed window panes are frosted, revealing a frozen, blue night whipped by spits of sharp snow flurries. Paneled, the walls denote a palatial setting.

Olivia, my dearest friend to my heart, I truly and earnestly hope this gift will please you.  Merry Christmas, my dear friend!

GOD BLESS YOU WITH AN INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR, MY DEAREST FRIEND AND SISTER IN CHRIST!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

OH GADS IT IS GLORIOUS!! I am fainting! Bring me smelling salts!!

I never imagined it would be this beautiful it’s exactly what I wanted thank you SO SO SO MUCH!!

I just love that they’re dancing so elegantly - in the beginning of his run he was always so averse to touching and being touched and it’s so lovely to see how he slowly relaxed in this aspect through the episodes (at least, with Clara) which is why it’s so lovely seeing these two share a tender moment like this. And a very lovely angle picked to portray them from, I must say - exquisite posture, and showing off the striking back of Clara’s dress, her head slightly turned so that we can see her face, and the Doctor’s HELLA dapper ¾ profile! He really wears Victorian garb very well!

And their faces, they’re done so intricately - Clara’s lovely blushing smile, and the Doctor looks absolutely dashing and at ease - his Clara is exactly where she should be. ^^, And their costumes are beautiful, wow, Clara’s dress has so much detail in it and the colour scheme is stunning, down to the little bows on her slippers that match her underskirt. And they’re SLIPPERS not high heels - a very common area when portraying period eras (which, for some reason, always makes me inordinately cross) … but then again, this is you: I’m not surprised the historical accuracy is all as it should be.

As for the bustle (it’s so little you can barely call it that) Clara probably got dressed in the TARDIS wardrobe, saw the dress and went “I want that one!” regardless of era because it was beautiful, so there’s your explanation.

And of course, you remain the Queen of the Background - this one is very nearly as striking as  the main feature! The tastefully ornate marble of the ballroom, the intricate window panes, and the picturesque snowy view outside. It is SO atmospheric I don’t even have the words to describe. I think that’s my favourite thing about this picture: just how incredibly atmospheric it is!

And I do have to comment on the lighting - how the wintery light reflects on the Doctor’s jacket, because that jazz is NOT easy to get right!

All in all: I love it so much, thank you SO MUCH!!

Thank you!

Merry belated Christmas! Pardon the month-long delay in replying!

The Doctor and Clara definitely need more slower, tender moments.

Thanks, the dress was a delight- a real show of Christmas colors!

This looks absolutely lovely my dear! I am a huge fan of Doctor Who as well and fine this quite refreshing!

The 12th Doctor has always had a problem with showing his emotions well, but I'd like to think that at times - he has such beautiful and tender moments with Clara. I am not sure if you are caught up with the series - but it became quite emotional and inspiring between the two of them.

Merry Christmas my dear! Merry Christmas.

You are? That is terrific! I admit, I am not as much as a devotee as my friend Olivia, but Doctor Who is simply one of the best fictional series I have encountered.

Indeed, the 12th Doctor's own capacity of expression seems hindered by his present onset of impending doom and weight gravitas his role in the universe demands.
Nonetheless, he and Clara must surely share tender, slower moments both can appreciate in midst of their chaotic endeavors to avert the planets from calamity.

Merry belated Christmas to you, dearest friend!

Doctor Who provides so much to the fictional genres and there is so much we can get out of it. It's a wonderful series.

The 12th doctor is most certainly facing a lot of doom and weight upon his shoulders, but I am sure that he and Clara shared many wonderful and tender moments in thier time, while not faced with the hardest lives.

And a merry belated Christmas to you as well my dear friend.
