Been working on this witch for a bit. I realized I haven't really done anything non-commission for a LONG TIME and I really missed it. I find for some reason I always do things better when it's my own creation. I guess that should make sense.

Thank you so much for the critique! It's very rare that I get someone kind enough (I know this will sound strange) to point out such a wide variety of flaws. It really helps me improve. As far as the skirt, you're very right. Another person commented after you did saying that it could also be the cropping of the piece since the skirt is in the middle, therefore the "focus" of the piece. So a combination of both I think is probably best.
Ah, and thank you for the anatomy help. I am very scared of drawing feet and out of the human body, it's got to be my lease favourite part.

Yes, I'll say it... she is very cute. Now that I've said what everyone else said:
The best part about this image is the plaid... even though I don't personally like plaid, it is very well done, you can see that it isn't just a plaid pattern with shading slapped on top... even if you did use a pattern, you took the time to make it bend and move with the folds and it shows, giving it a whole new level of professionalism. Nicely done there.
The color scheme is great, a nice balance of vibrant and festive without being over the top... and the shading technique is also excellent... though there is one concern I have. The lighting is slightly inconsistent. There is a yellow or golden hue to the right of the image in her hair and on the skirt... but I see none of that in the hat or her face or or her legs... it is really a very minor thing... but to make it truly consistent, you should have a hint of that glow on all of her, not just the red parts... that would make the image look truly stunning.
Besides that, your cell shading is excellent, your sense of color is great, and the image is over all very well drawn and thought out, even the simple background helps to bring out the subject beautifully. I tip my hat to you.

A note on what whitetrashpalace said about the skirt seeming more like the focus of the piece than her face: it might be an idea to move the figure over so that her face rather than her skirt is centred in the middle of the framed area. As it is her centre of balance is set in the exact middle of the image, but the centre of the figure (taking into account the space taken up by her hair and hat-brim) is skewed to the right of the image. There's nothing immensely wrong with that, since placing the figure away from the exact middle of the canvas can improve the dynamic of an image, but in this case it seems to defy the frame you've set up.
Sorry I couldn't just put this in a critique--no subscription, and all. Still, like most of the comments have already said, the girl's pretty cute. Keep it up!

You're absolutely right. I haven't really been treating what I draw in anime as actual art pieces. I haven't focused on composition and so far no one has really noticed! But I think you're right. I cropped it and it DID look much better. I took that to hear with my latest and it's well.. much better! Thanks for the critique it really helps me improve!

It's always nice to take a break from commissions to do something you want to do! I'm glad you did that too, everyone needs a break every once in a while.
I think this is very cute and well done. The pose is cute, the hands are well done and I love the oufit.
