The Union Pacific is most certainly taking good care of her and her stablemate, the 3985.

And I think I can say the same about engines on your side of the pond, as well! A few fun facts:
-This engine has NEVER been retired.
-She was built in 1944 by the American Locomotive Company.
-Saved for the purpose of pulling executive business trains
-Class FEF-3
-She has a "Centipede" tender, with one two axle truck that turns and five fixed axles behind the truck.
-From 1962 to 1989 she was numbered the 8444, because the Union Pacific ordered a brand new batch of GP30 diesel locomotives, and one of them was numbered the 844. When the GP30 was retired in 1989, it was donated to a museum and the number 844 was restored to the steam locomotive.
