Description A morning at Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. This is easily one of the most well-known and most-photographed spots along this part of the east coast. I was lucky enough to get a few shots in before dense fog rolled in.

I love this photo. Definitely one of my favorites. How were you able to capture that wispy water?

Thanks. I used a 1.3-second exposure to blur the motion of the water a bit.

There's so much history along that coast in general. I wish I had more time to spend there to do more tourist-type things & check out some museums. Hopefully I can get back there one day to do that.

they HAVE been talking about tearing down the odd lighthouse that sits right off the point there in the water known as the ram island lighthouse ....it was part of the submarine net defense shield that tied all the Portland islands together in WW 2 ....Fort Williams of course is a Landmark and you got a great shot But this one >>>> [link] might have to go due to lack of upkeep and the fact that is is crumbling >>> [link]

Wow, that thing looks ancient. Hopefully they don't have to tear it down though.

the wharf dock in ww2 submarines used to edge up to...as its on a sheer rock drop off into a 90 foot deep harbor...Portland Me has the deepest natural harbor for a city and or city limits on the east Coast ...many fine battle ships were built at this site in South Portland ..see the google map...i found for you ...you can still see the old docks and pilings [link]

many a great WW2 battle ship , merchant marine vessel, and cutter or frigate was built there

You got a great original looking shot of it.. so many take it from the usual place ..they all look the same.. this is great

Thank you, and thanks for the . I think most shots of this I've seen were taken from futher back, or up behind the fence. It's a bit tricky getting down to the water, but it's worth it.

Yea.. most are on that big flat rock about 50 feet from the steps.. almost all you see seem to have been shot from there... yours looks great from where you shot
