Description I've been trying unsuccessfully to understand Aisling's language.

It's...really bizarre. It sounds like she's speaking backwards and forwards at the same time...and upwards and downwards and....ugh. The sounds she makes sound like they could be formed by the human mouth by I can't seem to replicate them. I haven't studied her physiology that much. I'm not sure if she's got a different voice box or tongue or...it's just really hard to wrap my head around.

She can understand me...somehow. She understands the sounds of English...but not the symbols. And she certainly can't speak it.

Normally she doesn't speak at all...

I'd like to say most of this doesn't make a lick of sense.

I imagine it's formed by some weird combination of her gills, throat, mouth, tongue, and whatever keeps her from suffocating. Or perhaps done in a way that allows her to speak and be understood more clearly underwater to the ears of others like her. Humans probably sound very faint to her... and not just because of the sound.
