I don't give a shit about this crap anymore. Fave if you want, but don't get pissed off at me because I was an idiot 8 years ago.Well this is pretty self-explanatory, but here I go... I haven't seen this stamp anywhere else.
Fave/collect/comment if you agree with the stamp (it could go with dislike instead of hate as well,) but if you wanna agree with the rant too then go ahead. (Also for random, I do NOT like Vampire Knight. It's like Twilight in manga form almost >.> )
Meyer has RUINED vampire literature from this point on; she lowered the bar for everyone on literary skill itself.
A true vampire fan can realize that Meyer's creations are nothing more than sparkling humans with blood fetishes.
1. The word 'fangs' is NOT EVEN USED ONCE in the series. What good can a vampire be without fangs, or even just really sharp teeth?
2. The Cullens have a GIANT CROSS in their house. Simply WTF there; if they're supposed to be Mormon (well formerly) like the author, then they should all be affected by it.
3. Nothing happens when you stake them, apparently. They should at least be paralyzed, if not dead.
4. They drink ANIMAL blood. Vampires only do this if they are dying of blood lack.
5. They don't sleep. This is impossible, even for an immortal creature; 6 days without sleep can cause you to become PSYCHO, vampires are not exempt from this.
6. They have superpowers. Even psychic vampires can't read your mind. Edward shouldn't be able to.
7. There is no 'good' or 'bad' vampire. All of them are hellish creatures, and should be treated as such in writing.
8. They sparkle. In folklore vampires aren't affected AT ALL by the sun, unless exposed to it for long periods of time. The least she could have done is not made anything happen, or follow the lie of literature and made them burn.
9. Vampires aren't sex toys/objects. Meyer breaks this, seeing as the book is at least half fanservice of "OMG EDWAD IS HAWT."
10. Vampires DO NOT date HUMANS. Vampires hardly date at all, and a vampireXhuman relationship is just ridiculous. This goes for all stories that contain this.

My GOD, you're stupid. All this "vampire lore" you're talking about, and how Meyers "ruined" it. Well, guess what idiot? Vampires aren't real. You know what that means? That means that all this "lore" is exactly that: lore. A long time ago, people made up all this shit, and it's changed a lot over the years. So why the hell can't Meyers reinvent it? Put a new twist on it? It's not like people are going around saying that everything "established" up to this point is false and the Twilight books are the only real facts about vampires. People like the books because they're entertaining! And she didn't write them for you, or the rest of the snobs out there. So why don't you just shut the fuck up, ok?

If Meyers had advertised it as anything else, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Don't call it a twist; there's nothing vampire like about it except for blood lust, and that makes it even worse. I mean, don't demons (for lack of a better term) who change others and give new, un-vampire-like powers to others through biting make more sense than overpowered emotional "vampires" that fucking SPARKLE?
Hell, she could've called them fairies and it would have made more sense! XD

I agree and disagree. There's many different variants of the vampire legends. Most tend to stick to a single common theme, with tweeks here and there. I have to agree about Meyer, though. She's destroyed vampires in general. She's used the books to play out her own perfect "boy meets girl" daydream. And hey, if she wants to do that, let her. It's her books. Taking it to this extreme is a bit overboard, though. "Twilight" has come to symbolize ALL vampires, and that's not gonna fly with me. -.-; I like your stamp. x.X;Β

Nice. but I will say I'm in general not a fan of the always chaotic evil trope (basically its a trope were a entire race, every member of that race is always and never not pure evil.) Need less to say it can have very unfortunate indications. It can work in some time but it borders black and white insanity so times. Its also worth mentioning that twilight vampire not as passive as you think. The Cullen's are pretty much the only vamps (or at least the only ones I can think of) that don't drink human blood (and murder there victims)( and the Cullen's are even then still ambiguously evil. They may not kill people but that have bad problem with other vamps killing people.) This even one Seen in New Moon (or at least in the movie) were a crowd of people (with children) are being lead by some of the voltaren and one of them says save some for me and you hear the people screaming (its actually kind of terrifying.) And it gets even worse with Edward who during the great depression rebelled against the Cullen's "thou shall not kill" rule and kill and tortured a large number people. Grated he pulled a Dexter and only killed people he thought were "bad" but to determined if they were "bad" he used is mind reading ability but he has a surprisingly week version of it were he can only read thought not emotions and intentions. So Edward became the thought police killing people for just thinking about doing something bad (and we all have thought something bad. Ironically he himself is also thinking as we as doing something bad and he does have murderous intent.) Even worse is that he (or at least at first) can't make up his mind if he wants to love Bella or kill her and drink her blood. Ambiguously evil to say the least. And if I'm not mistake he also piloted to kill different people just for spit.
However Twilight vamps still suck and Twilight still sucks.

One thing you missed was the fact that Edward got Bella pregnant... Vampires are dead, their reproductive systems would not work and so I'd like to know how Edward knocked Bella up. Does Meyer even explain the science behind it?
I must now go and read Dracula a second time.
I don't mind the whole romance thing as long as it's dark romance; like in Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series. They burn in the sunlight, sleep, cannot reproduce, don't crave sex, they drink human blood, they don't have superpowers and are described as monsters. One of the Vampires dates a human but he has shown his horrific side when he attacked her due to thirst.
Twilight goes down the cheesy, soppy root of romance which does not fit the Vampire lore in the slightest bit. She should have come up with her own name for the 'species' she created as they are most certainly not Vampires - far from it.

If someone said you had to be a fictional vampire the Twilight ones appear to be the best bet because they are insanely hard to kill, no real weaknesses and can have SUPERPOWERS!!! Aside from the blood they really do not feel like vampires, since it is fiction people can give or take away whatever they wish, thinking about it now nothing about them really screams vampire. Appears to be a virus that enhances humans to a great degree and they require blood thus the vampire, take that away and no vampire would be left.
Now giant wolves are going to be awesome no matter what.

I mean, if those Twilight-crazed teeny-boppers wanted to read about vampires, then they should read Dracula for a change. Because the "vampire" in Twilight doesn't even match the description of a REAL vampire. Vampires are supposed to be evil, not idealistic boyfriends. I'm open to alot of different Vampires. I love vampires, always have. ever since I was little. like, Vampire knight, rosario+Vampire, Vladimir Tod, Darren Shan, Dracula, Hellsing, Van Hellsing, my sister the vampire. (can't remember the rest) but Twilight is NOT one of em. my sister and a friend tried to get me to watch it. it was crap. boring as hell. I like the old fashioned vamps. :3 and some new ones. but yeah, Twilight is crap. ._.

I've read other things besides Twilight too, Harry Potter, Vampire Diary's, Blood and Chocolate, Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgearld (biography about the ship the Edmund Fitzgearld where all 29 crew member's lost their lives in a brutal storm), You Can Run, But You Can't Hide (Biography on Duane 'Dog' Chapman), Where Mercy is Shown, Mercy is Given (another biography on Duane 'Dog' Champan) The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and many more.
I don't know why; but I always have to list other books I've read to Twilight haters so they don't think I'm unintelligent for liking the series. Yes I own all the books, yes I own all the movies, but they aren't my life.
I don't fangirl over Edward or Jacob, I may think Taylor Lautner is hott/cute but there are other celebs I love too.

I agree that people can take an idea of a myth and shape it to however he/she wants, but Meyer does NOTHING to shape the vampire myth into her own...She has to take the simple points, such as the FANGS, the poor wrath of the sun that vampires must endure (NOT sparkle), ect.
Not to be too insulting, but Edward, as well as the other Cullens, are more as Faeries than Vampires.
Meyer has shaped the FAERY myth instead of the VAMPIRE one.
