Description A picture of my pheonix tattoo right after it was done. To me it symbolizes that I can overcome anything life has to throw at me.

I love it!

edit: I wonder where all my comments went?

I am glad. I still love it all these years later. Get a referral to a reputable artist who will do a nice job and work with you to accomplish your artistic goal. Good luck!

i realise that this is quite an old post but can i ask who did it for you?
i am thinking of getting one and i really like the brushwork (needlework? don't know the correct term )
its beautiful!

Thank you very much! It was my first and was very painful. The artist was wonderful but I now realize (having had more tattoos and more artists) that he was very heavy handed. I would ask around to your friends with tattoos and ask who they recommend. You definitely do not need someone who is heavy handed for your first one. Good luck

That looks really cool and I love the design! Looks great! By the way, is that blood or ink dripping down? Just curious

Thank you! I loved the design and still do
I'm not sure if it was blood or ink but I'm thinking it's a mixture of both with a little more on the blood side. The artist was very heavy handed and the tattoo itself was very painful. It took a long time to heal which is a sign of the ink being too deep in the skin layers. Therefor when you find a good artist you should keep him or her, a good artist is priceless!

This is amazing. And also, it is similar to how I want my dragon tattoo to look. Did you design it yourself? And if so, mind if I use the general pose of it for my own?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thaila19 In reply to Wolfaelan [2010-09-20 23:20:16 +0000 UTC]

I don't mind if you take inspiration from it

I designed it with the artist (Xae Molina) on the spot while visiting family in New York. I told him I wanted it to look like a watercolor.

i love it i would get a tattoo if i wasn't underaged and terrified of needles and how long did the pain last?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thaila19 In reply to Shetani-Wolf [2010-04-26 15:09:32 +0000 UTC]

Purely? It was only painful for the duration of the tattoo. The area is a little tender for a few days but nothing too bad

Where is that exactly, like, on the middle of your back? Was it your first tattoo?

Because, that's what my deal was My first tattoo is in the middle of my back, and it was painful :c ...and it tickled >> Didn't bleed afterward, though.

Anywaaaaay, I like how it looks, nice idea you had there :]

thaila19 In reply to AkikoMiyahara [2009-10-06 22:52:52 +0000 UTC]

Yep! The pain was manageable until he started to run the red over the sore and swollen black. Thanks for the comment! I like how it turned out

Ps. You sure have some pretty sky pictures in your gallery

thaila19 In reply to vista59 [2009-09-16 22:44:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you but nope. The artist drew it on me right then and there from an outline of ideas I had. The main one being that it resemble a watercolor painting.

I love the wispy brushwork quality. Would love to see a healed pic of it too though, to see the details better.

thaila19 In reply to xAmarynth [2009-05-27 19:48:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! That's one of the qualities I was very set on it having. Unfortunately, the red did not heal well and it needs touched up. That is the best picture I have of it.

xAmarynth In reply to thaila19 [2009-05-29 05:02:37 +0000 UTC]

Red tends to do that, sometimes. I'd love to have red in any of my future tattoos but I'm sticking with black, greens and blues. Either way though, I'd imagine its still a lovely tattoo.

Thank you

In the two years that you are waiting for yours you should look through every tattoo book you come across! It took me 5 years after I turned 18 to find my artist. Take your time and make it count.

Also: check out the phoenixes these guys do,

you're welcome

I have read all of the books on tattoos that I found...
and my uncle already sugest me an artist that'll do my tattoo..he's done his by him and he was very impresed by the way his done it (:
and also I already had a conversation with my mum when, where and how should I had my tattoo done
so I can't wait

and by the way...did it hurt when you got your tattoo (some say it does and others say it doesn't...so I don't actelly know what to belive XD)

thaila19 In reply to pankercax3 [2008-10-01 21:35:47 +0000 UTC]

It depends highly on where you get it. I have one on my sternum and it HURT. My phoenix wasn't bad until he ran the red OVER the black. That was nearly unbearable. I think the general rule is it depends on the nerves... my sternum hurt, under my shoulders and down my butt hurt, but I could have my spine tattooed all day. Don't worry about it and try to relax. They are addicting and you will want more!! ;
