i always liked expressionist or maybe brutalist architecture most.. cause i like solid repetitive lines that creates a minimal effect and a sense of strength in architecture.. like louis kahn's work.. well, gaudi is the exact opposite of that yet its impossible to stand there and not like something he did.. its definitely alien, and yes it cant be categorized.. so in that sense he's unmatched.. but i wish there were other architects going after this style you know.. we just don't know how this would've evolved cause no one dared something this crazy..

i adore kahn.. he inspired me so much before some day that I made this journal: [link] (there is his quote.. about brick )
i like gaudi but i look on him just from the aesthetic view and i love his fairies, but i like too more clearer approach in architecture: aalto, kahn. and eisenman..
and yes, no one dared sth crazy.. well, he was very free.. architects are commonly the most controllable beings in artistic ways (but that was more in history - specially battles in 19th century over the main critic theme: what about a style?), so gaudi was very happy because in his time there born new modern shift where in austria and germany was jugendstil, but in spain moderna or sth like it.. so they fought against tradition and school and they gave more meaning to look even they expire all new materials (iron, glass),.. so they were against accademic teaching of architect : architect must be objective (engineering ) and subjective (artistic), so they were ''all'' on the end of 19th and begin 20th century: subjective architects! so they can experiment a lot with their imagination so they seek in nature (v. horta, h. van de welde, o. wagner,..).. then adolf loos criticize all that and he said: ornament is crime. they were wild. anyway, there is a problem about gaudi because he didn't learn well constructive rules, so sagrada f. would be always constructing, because he used some sort of sand that is not good (if i remember still.. i wrote an essay about him before some years.. )

Mimaride de, başka alanlarda da Gausi'yi kapsayan bir kategori bulunamadı ki!
Çok isterdim BCn'ya gitmeyi ve en başlıca nedeni de buraya yuklediğin objeler..
Eline sağlık:d
