Description Sif is a Norse Goddess famed for Her glorious hair: thick and golden, it fell to the floor and was Her pride. She has been taken to be a grain Goddess because of this, Her flowing golden hair seen as a metaphor for the ripe grain. Her second husband is Thor; Her son, by Her first husband, is Ullr, the God of winter. Ullr's name means 'Glory', by the way, making Sif the Mother of Glory.

She is mainly known for the tale in which Loki, the troublemaker of the Gods, sneaked into Her chamber one night as She slept and cut off all Her hair. When She woke She was very upset; and it didn't take even Thor very long to figure out Who was behind it. So He set to threatening Loki, Who promised a replacement head of hair; this He got from the dwarves with a bit of conniving. They made it out of actual gold; but when given to Sif it magically grew to Her head just like real hair.

Sif is also known for having the gift of prophecy.

I've depicted Her here richly dressed in a necklace of two shades of amber, crowned by Her glorious hair the color of ripe grain.
