Description
"Gimme a break!"
The blue hedgehog looked down at the tracker he was holding. He had now sped up from a usual jog to a full run across the coast with a sense of urgency. He pulled down his glove cuff and began speaking to a small communicator.
"Tails! Someone else got ahold the Emerald! It's on the move!"
"I know- I can detect something there, let me just try find a match."
Sonic rushed down a path that was beside what was probably countless acres of foliage, noticing something rustling between them. He snatched a glimpse at his tracker once more.
He was right beside it.
"No need, Tails- I've got our culprit RIGHT HERE!"
"Sonic, wait-!"
Sonic swerved into said foliage, before immediately being launched out.
"Sonic? Are you there?!" Tails was slightly nervous.
"I'm fine, buddy... Just know that a certain robotic faker doesn't know how to greet an old pal... I'll catch ya later."
Sonic hung up.
"Greet you? Why would I need to greet you? We already know one another." A robotic mirror image of Sonic stepped out of the bushes, a Chaos Emerald with a crimson hue in hand.
"Oh, wow! Eggman listened to my suggestions for once! Ol' doc finally gave you a voice chip, eh?"
"Simply part of my many upgrades." Metal Sonic rushed forward, Sonic swiftly dodging his attack.
"Upgrade this, upgrade that! Who cares what Metal Sonic v49.7 has to offer?"
Sonic went for a roundhouse kick, hitting his duplicate directly in the head, sending him directly to the ground beneath them.

"I'm still gonna kick your ass."
"Strong words. Do you have the physical strength to back it? Or is it that..." Metal Sonic's eyes went completely red, as Sonic's voice sounded, slightly muffled. "Your bark's worse than your bite" Metal Sonic returned to normal, the audio clip of Sonic having been cut off. He placed his hand behind his head, and returned it to his side... If Sonic had been paying attention, he would have noted that the Emerald was gone...
"Oh hey, I remember that quip! Ah, good week, that wa-"
Sonic's gloating was stopped before it could start, as Metal Sonic caught him offguard with a direct punch to the face.
"ACK!" Sonic tumbled backwards, throwing his arms behind him after his body had flipped a few times, to land on them and send himself upward.
Sonic parried an incoming attack as he was returning to the ground with an axe kick. Sonic and Metal began exchanging blows, some being cancelled out by each other.
"Also, quick tidbit- using my own voice against me? Tsk, tsk. Just makes you even MORE unoriginal! I mean, it's bad enough you're tryna take my styl-"
"Shut UP!" Metal Sonic raised his leg and kicked Sonic into the ground, following up with a rather devastating blow to the stomach.
Sonic didn't have time to follow up on a retort, as Metal Sonic grabbed him and began spinning before releasing his grip on his opponent.
The cobalt Mobian soon met face-to-face with a wall.
Sonic groaned, as he landed, falling from the wall. "You're... Really giving this fight your all." Sonic got up.
"My new orders concerning you are simple. KILL ON SIGHT." Metal Sonic's arm rotated, rearranging itself to become a firearm of sorts.
"Aw, really? Shucks, I'm flattered!" Sonic avoided multiple blasts from his robot copy, before headbutting him.
"It's nice to know Eggy cares about me so much that I have to die on sight! Guess I finally got under his skin a little too mu-"
Sonic was now in a chokehold, courtesy of Metal, of course.
"Does anybody ever tell you you talk too much?"
"Let's see, Knux, Shadow, I THINK I got on Silver's nerves onc-" Sonic was slowly moving his arms up, managing to get Metal to focus on him.
"Exactly my point, motormouth."
"I thought that stuff was your thing!" Sonic grinned, managing to pry Metal's arm from him, holding on to slam the robot behind him.
Metal recovered nearly instantly. "Cute." He curled up during the slight bounce from the force Sonic used in his attack, and kicked Sonic with both legs.
This time Sonic managed to stop before he hit the wall by boosting directly downwards into the ground, skidding to a halt.
"Now, how did that saying go? Send me flying me into a wall once, shame on-"
Metal Sonic threw Sonic with enough force that he went through it.

"Okay-" Sonic got off, coughing, as he wiped some blood from his mouth. "I guess that doesn't count."
Metal Sonic casually drilled through the wall as it crumbled behind him. he tore his arms away from one another, as the drill was shredded in two instantly.
"Okay, I definitely get the feeling Eggy reused some unused assets meant for Omega here..."
"I draw blood from you, and you continue to make incessant quip after incessant quip.."
Metal chuckled, his eyes vanishing for a moment before re-appearing with a flash.
"It's amusing how truly dense you are."
"Thanks! I've been told I have a thick skull." Sonic tapped his head, chuckling.
"But I guess you want me to up the ante, huh?"
"Fine by me!"
Sonic crouched down, and initiated a spindash, with a cyan glow around the speedily spinning hedgehog.
Metal Sonic did the same, but with a purple glow.
The two began clashing at paces almost undetectable to the naked eye, the only signs they even were moving and didn't spontaneously cease existing were two colored blurs hitting against one another, causing sparks to fly.
Sonic landed on a small rock formation. "Gotta hand it to you, Metal!" Sonic jumped off of the formation he had landed on, as Metal Sonic split it with a dual axe kick.
"You can ALMOST keep up with me now!" Sonic landed on a new formation, and immediately had to rush off due to Metal Sonic opening fire.
"Stand still and DIE!"
Metal Sonic grabbed Sonic, and unleashed a barrage of punches after throwing him into the ground.
Sonic would then be launched away with a large kick."
"Argh..." Sonic got up. "I'm still kicki-!"
Sonic was then, ironically, the one to be kicked. He recovered, but Metal Sonic was already back to trying to kill him.
"That's the difference between us, Sonic-"
Sonic just barely missed a kick.
"-You are organic."
Sonic tried to land another, but his leg was stopped by Metal's hand.
"I am not. You get fatigued..."
Sonic was thrown directly into Metal's chest.
"I do not."
Sonic was then blasted through many walls, now laying on the ground, severely injured.
Sonic weakly got up. He knew Metal Sonic was going to get there soon, so he began spinning with all his power.
"Alright, you wanna see what I can really do, Metal?"
Sonic uncurled, keeping the cyan glow, as Metal Sonic was only a mile away, and approaching rapidly.
"Ready..."
Metal Sonic was almost face-to-face with Sonic...
"...GO!"
Metal Sonic was punched in the face, and flew back, recovering.
"What-?"
Sonic was instantly in front of Metal, almost entirely blue, save for his eyes, which glowed a bright white.
"It's called Lightspeed Attack. But Eggman must've forgot to tell ya about it. Good thing, too- It's changed a LOT since I first used it!"
Sonic vanished, and Metal began to gain massive amounts of damage.
"No- I had the upper hand! How am I losing it so quickly?!"
"Easy!"
Sonic hit Metal hard enough that the Chaos Emerald flew from a now exposed compartment.
"You're."
Metal made a mad dash for the Emerald, but Sonic grabbed it first, punching Metal back.
"Too."
Sonic began to run around Metal at unreasonable paces, hitting him with each cycle.
"SLOW!"
The cobalt hedgehog ended with a kick directly to Metal Sonic's chest, with enough force that it rippled to his engine, causing it to explode.
Sonic returned to normal.

"No- This time I was supposed to win-"
"Blah, blah, blah!" Sonic kicked Metal back.
"Save me the generic villain defeat speech, Metal!"
"You really are arrogant..."
"Eh, tomato, tomahto."
"That's... Not even how that wor-!"
Metal Sonic was interrupted by being spun directly in half, horizontally. He slid apart, before exploding.
"Let's see... Sonic, countless... Metal, zero."
Sonic reopened communications with Tails.
"Situation sorted!"
"Good to hear, Sonic!"
"Alright, I'll hit the road- Be back at your place in a flash!"
Sonic dashed off, leaving behind a very wrecked shore that he'll probably get told to clean up later.
"Real quick, is Amy there?"
"...Why?"
"I might have gotten... Kinda very injured."
