Way back in February approached me and asked if I could drop some colors on a Mega Man tribute piece he had drawn up. He was pressed for time and needed a bit of help. How could I refuse as an upright Blue Bombin' fanboy.After a bit of direction on what he wanted, we parted ways and I colored.
Well, turns out I had gone a little too "bleach bybass" on the colors and they ended up mostly unusable. Ouch.
So, sad to say, my colors didn't make it to final print, but I at least had a little hand in the overall tribute.
An embarrassing lesson learned, but a fun one that I enjoyed.
At least I got to drop in a lens flare.
Here's the final colors, if you're interested. There are no hard feelings.

Your finished colors, shadows and lighting are more realistic (a sort of dull and dark metallic feel with a burning brightness offscreen). His finished coloring is more bright and 'cartoony'. Great job to the both of you!

hunh...
i never thought about how the colours looked on megaman.
when i see the recolour i notice how much in the shadows his torso and face are.
i can't believe i didn't notice that before.
that's the only thing that i would have changed the rest is still great.
the recolour is a little too flat and candy for me.
which is funny considering we're talking about MM which can be just that at times. C:

wicked. I checked both of these out and have to say I prefer yours. the muted colors seem to work alot better and the "scratchy" effect in the lower right (the white stuff) givesit a more gritty feel. Sucks yours didnt make it , but looks like would have been fun pic. to color anyways

By some reason your colored pic seems more dynamic than the final one.. I liked both but this one is cooler IMO.

I did the best I could to pull some variety out of the limited color palette I chose. There are some subtle little things going on with the highlights that help give it an element of dynamism.

Uh, if it makes you feel any better, I have a really dirty mind, and after looking hard for about 2 minutes I still couldn't see anything I would define as "sperm."
Personally, I like this version better than the other. It gives me a real sense of the light source.
