LOL True, true! I thought of this as well. I didn't hate it as a movie (and I think I was able to do it cause I'm SO used to books "adaptations") but there were things that were SO HARD to swallow like the second pearl scene where
a)annabeth solves a problem with a medieval weapon
b)percy puts on FLYING SHOES giving by LUKE
c) The son of POSEIDON climbs Athena's statue, profanates it and comes down without a problem
d) Annabeth skips twice and says "yaaay, percy" in a girly voice while clapping before hugging him.

so yeah, this was pretty much epic in "this movie isn't exacly about the book, who are these people?" lol

I think the movie people just took to many liberties with the movie. It was hard to watch. But to me the worse thing was Luke and Percy using the bolt.

I have to say though that book Luke has very seldom reason to be bad as well xD! I mean, I'd find it more understanding if he went bad because of what zeus did to thalia then for the fact that hermes was absent and his mother went crazy cause so many people have absent/complicated parents....and I don't see them starting a war over it :{!

ah yeah, you're right about the whole family complication thing. I've got family issues probably about as bad as Luke's but you don't see me selling my soul to the devil or anything >_> ..but, also! I guess everyone just reacts differently to these things..? just like those crazy axe murderers

Besides these things, I really like Luke's character because he seems the most .. human.

Yeah, usually when fans go "the movie was totally different from the book" I keep one foot behind because fans always complain but the Percy Jackson movie used nothing but the character's name, really @_@

It's still doable, I guess. Luke got a scar from Percy by the end of the book, they could easily explain him surviving the fall by saying he was already unbeatable (it's not like they care about time line anyway, lol) and since it's already so like HP, they can just have Chiron saying "sit down, Percy, I'll tell you everything." and then talk about the prophecy.

Agreed I want to see how the whole series will turn out (movie wise) I hope there arent anymore serious screw ups (well,the 1st movie has been warped so much,i dont know what to expect )

chill, chill! *gives cookie* lol I think Columbus is good with original scripts but chosing him to deal with PJO when the character's age had completely changed - I mean, they were sixteen, man, sixteen, columbus is not exactly famous for his TEENAGE MOVIES.

I miss John Hughes... *sobs*

If their sixteen now, the the great prophecy will come when he's 22, if their even doing that... But, some people aren't just critizing(sp?) the movie anymore, they like complaining about the actors/actress' too. The people who were casting it probably were either
A) Were too lazy to care about the bajillion fans waiting for this movie, so they just picked random people (Even though Logan Lerman is fine for me...)
B) Were half asleep
or C) Drunk

Or anything that follows those lines.... Whatever rocks your boat.

I went to the movies 5 times for PJO.

The movie kept getting weaker but Logan...oh Logan. It got to the point I'd blush when he appeared.

"You do realize he isn't EXACTLY here, don't you?" my friend would say and I'd just hide my face with my purse and giggle.
"I know, I know, but will you look at him?"

I had my friends all asking me for permission before sending me links with pics of logan cause it unsettled me so much xD~

And those photoshoot pictures...Oh lord, if I've been known for fainting, I would have added Logan to my "what-makes-me-faint" list with tiny hearts surrounding it... My friend's friend's boyfriend looks EXCATLY like Logan, I had an extreme giggle and blush fit when I met him... I keep a picture of him in my locker, and this guy asked me who he is and I'm like:
"LOGAN LERMAN!!"
Then he said:
"Ok, geez. Calm down, he isn't that special anyway"
I wanted to punch him in the face, kick him in the babymaker then slam his face into a book yelling "I BET YOU LIKE FACEBOOK!!"....

And man! THE PHOTOSHOOTS! I never bought ONE single magazine during my whole teenage years because of an eye candy, and then one day, 20 year old me goes to a shop and byes teen vogue.
