Description A rare glimpse at a pod of sky rays gliding through the cloud pillars in the upper atmosphere of the gas giant Persephone V. Usually you find theses magnificent creatures only in the lower, denser layers of the atmosphere where they feed on drifting organic matter (skyton).

This is based on an idea I had already for some time and I finally figured out how to get the atmospheric effects and cloud shapes I envisioned.

Animal model posed and exported from DAZ Studio. Environment setup, lighting and rendering in Vue 9 Infinite.

OK, but don't forget your helmet and breathing system, those clouds are sulfur dioxide...

Thank you! Maybe the "Integral Trees" by Larry Niven?

Thanks! The cloud pillars where lucky result of playing around with the fractal function and scaling.

could be an underwater scene of the Jupiter moon Europa, where nobody knows whats under the frozen surface but some astronomers believe that the core of the moon is hot and under the surface is a liquid ocean with possible life

Indeed. Good old Larry Niven. I read that book ages ago and mostly forgot, but now that you mention it I bet that's where some of the inspiration for this image came from... Thanks! Coming to think of it there might be another idea for an image there...

I'm reminded of the scene in Treasure Planet where similar creatures see the ship off.

Yeah, I remember that. Those giant whale like creatures. Very cool movie with lots of funny SciFi references ("He's dead Jim...").

Thanks

I'm reminded of a level in New Super Mario Bros Wii where there's no ground and you have to go through riding on these flying green stingrays I have long liked the idea of life in gas giants though, everything would have to fly with no ground, and the air would easily be dense enough to provide buoyancy. I often imagine jellyfish-like creatures though
