He's been getting it for years. Unfortunately, although progress has been made, it's been very, very slow progress. Asylum's NEVER gonna really ever be completely ok again, it's really just a fact... Sometimes once someone's mind is broken, it's, just, well, broken.

True, but Sy moves really, really fast when he wants to. Not beyond human abilities, but quick enough that it'll catch them off guard...

OMG! You have to read this, it's a parody on the Dream part in the last Harry Potter book

Incapability to recognize reality from fantasy(a really gory fantasy),a truly sad life for Asylum,at least he can't remember his life from before becoming this version of you know who,he would've been a worser mess than now

Yup. That incapability is a result of Asylum's main psychological ailment, a condition called Oneirophrenia (here's a link if you want more info, it's quite fascinating- [link] )
Hmm... The rest of your comment makes me want to mention things about his story that I can't mention yet *__* Spoilers, y'know?...
... Let's just say... What Asylum has when it comes to his past... Well, he doesn't necessarily have true amnesia, but something slightly different...
He actually was a worse mess at one point. It's taken 12 years, but he's slowly beginning to get a tiny bit better. He'll never totally recover or be able to truly function properly on his own, but at least he's semi-lucid at times now. He retreated completely into his own mind for a few years in the beginning...

Ooh,so close -snaps finger-
gradual improvement for Sy is still good,it's a slow progress but it'll be a bit of good character development.
p.s:Ah,repression of memories right ?
