HOLY ERU!!! I love this *O*. And yes, I read somewhere, don't remember where, that Sauron had indeed a body besides the Eye form, but was too weak to appear

That is not entirely true. The Great Eye never apperared in the Books, Tolkien just described Sauron`s presence like a big Eye, wich sees everything. He has a bodily form, but just rarely leaves his Tower Barad-dΓΊr in Mordor.
