Description I for one really hate Duncan's CGI model. It looks nothing like his basis or his television model with ARC productions probably hastily making it overnight.

I like the model series because the cgi is more wider, so I definitely agree that model one is way better

BECAUSE IT'S BETTER.

I don't know, I guess the CGI Duncan just kinda looks more like, well, Duncan, to me. And personal preference, I guess?

Old Duncan's crooked funnel always bothered me as a kid.

CGi all the way, because it has more detail like the real life counterpart.

That is absolutely rubbish!  Have you ever seen Talyllyn Railway No.6 Douglas, the basis of Duncan??? The real life locomotive has way more details than both Duncan's model and CGI model. Look at the links in the description and you will see how much detail is missing from CGI Duncan.

Learn you facts before making stupid comments!

to be fair The-ARC-Minister  CGI Duncan does have rivets around the smokbox and at the bottom of his bunker as well as a more detailed funnel

I'm just showing my opinion! I'm also not trying to come off as stupid, O.K. And finally, I've looked at the description links and I can see your point.

Are you sure, look at this comparison of how Duncan looked the railway series and television series the model era and the CGI era.

He must be the exception that proves the rule cause it's S4 Duncan hands down

The-ARC-Minister In reply to SleeperAgent1 [2017-02-04 13:58:08 +0000 UTC]

Would you be content with the model series Duncan returning or do you really need to see a Talyllyn-style model like the other little engines?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SleeperAgent1 In reply to The-ARC-Minister [2017-02-04 14:15:34 +0000 UTC]

Opps TTS4, can be a little had to pick up on subtext with just short text only sentences

Umm I suppose if they were going to redo Duncan they might as well do it proper and use the TR scans like they did for the other engines.

The-ARC-Minister In reply to SleeperAgent1 [2017-02-04 14:49:54 +0000 UTC]

I know we would like to see a Talyllyn Duncan but would you prefer a model series Duncan to return over what we have now?

SleeperAgent1 In reply to The-ARC-Minister [2017-02-04 16:36:33 +0000 UTC]

Well I prefer the old models myself so there's your answer but there is no turning back form CGI now

The-ARC-Minister In reply to SleeperAgent1 [2017-02-05 00:45:43 +0000 UTC]

Actually Duck has been resize to his original smaller size so it is possible that they could change Duncan (and maybe the steam team.)

ThreeRiverEngines [2016-11-18 19:32:34 +0000 UTC]

It is a such a shame that they didn't make Duncan at all like his real-life counterpart, Talyllyn No. 6 "Douglas".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-ARC-Minister In reply to ThreeRiverEngines [2016-11-18 23:03:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that would have been epic.
Try looking at the image links to get an idea of how he should have looked.

i like the CGI render but i still prefer the model version cause i just grew up with it

Steamking4468 [2016-11-18 06:56:41 +0000 UTC]

It had got to be the model. Dimensionally it looks better than the cgi version. The cab windows on the cgi version are too small and the dome in the boiler isn't tall enough.

The-ARC-Minister In reply to Steamking4468 [2016-11-18 10:27:22 +0000 UTC]

So many wrong things with CGI Duncan compared to the model and basis:
- severely undersize/out of scale
- red foot-plate
- cab lining not painted
- brass pipe is undersize
- black box under boiler
- brake pipe when the other NG engines don't have them
Just to list a few...

What on Earth were ARC Productions thinking when they made this CGI model?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Steamking4468 In reply to The-ARC-Minister [2016-11-18 12:35:35 +0000 UTC]

I thought they were meant to have decided to go down the route of trying to get back to some kind of realism with the CGI models?
Just doesn't look like it with this one.
Not as if they couldn't ask to do a 3D scan of the real prototype!!!

The-ARC-Minister In reply to Steamking4468 [2016-11-18 13:16:41 +0000 UTC]

Even a google search of TR6 Douglas would have been sufficient for getting the extra details and size but no

Steamking4468 In reply to The-ARC-Minister [2016-11-18 13:41:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh indeed.
I can imagine, if asked why the lack of or poor detail the answer would be that it is a show for kids and that they wouldn't appreciate the extra effort needed to produce a better quality model. Shame really.

The-ARC-Minister In reply to Steamking4468 [2016-11-18 14:40:01 +0000 UTC]

I remember someone once said that CGI Duncan looks like a take'n'play model so it definitely would appeal to kids.

MissLuckychan29 [2016-11-18 04:09:20 +0000 UTC]

While I like both, I prefer model Duncan over CGI, but mostly in season 4 when his facial expressions were a lot more grumpy, and the more he sulked his cuteness, in my opinion, grew.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-ARC-Minister In reply to MissLuckychan29 [2016-11-18 05:41:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, out of all the model narrow gauge engines, his face is my favourite. He was "Grumpy Train" before "Grumpy Cat" was born.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MissLuckychan29 In reply to The-ARC-Minister [2016-11-18 11:23:21 +0000 UTC]

It's a shame that no one ever waited patiently and listened to him rant. Maybe he might have felt less sulky and grumpy if he was able to explain to people why he was so upset.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-ARC-Minister In reply to MissLuckychan29 [2016-11-19 15:20:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, maybe he's only grumpy because no one listens to him... or he never gets polished.
