ughhhh this took so long but it was sO WORTH ITTT
AIGHT so this person's half of the art trade was actually one of these best pictures I had ever received so I went all fucking out with this and worked REALLY hard on it. This character was super challenging to do because I've never done an older man type character before, so this is probably one of the most challenging pictures I've ever done but I loved making it. It was a lot of fun and I feel like i learned a shit ton doing this, and I loved doing this character as well. Idk he's just so different from what I normally do, so he was a lot of fun. I did some experimenting with the clouds and really focused on lighting as well. Overall this is probably one of my favorite pieces of mine. Thanks so much for doing this trade with me, girl!! It was so much fun and I hope we can do this again sometime!

My favorite part has to be the eyes, you nailed the idea of him having very shiny and white eyes because of his age, and how older people get clearer eyes. I'm so glad you got that!
The sky and the way the wings dance with the wind is just so interesting. Ar first it looked like he was falling and accepting what was about to happen. I love it so much, and I'm sorry if this gave you any trouble making it. Although, now seeing how differently our characters are, it makes me wonder how they would interact. And thinking about their backstories, they are not so different inside.

The background was definitely challenging as well, but I love doing skies and clouds so it was fun xD I'm glad you assigned him to me actually because I definitely need more practice drawing older characters, and idk there was just something about him that I really liked, like his expression and demeanor in the ref was so subtle but it said so much about him and I loved it, and I really tried to portray that in the picture.
No man seriously this was a lot of fun to do! I wouldn't have wanted to change it xD I really liked doing him. It was a very pleasant experience xD Yeah same, that would probably a pretty interesting meeting lol LaDue has seen so much weird shit that she probably wouldn't even be phased lol

I kind of didn't represent him entirely accurately since he's kind of cooki, he's very old, but he keeps his vigor about him due to his species, and he has no real care for how people perceive him, so he acts pretty weird. But it's more kind of, cooki, old concerned angry person weird. Like--
"-perches on you- I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU SEE, I KNEW IT. -jumps off you- this is bad...see!? They asked us where we lived! I dont care if it was a "SUURR-Vehh" it was still a question! I can't believe this, this is it! -puts his hand on your face- THEY WILL COME FOR US FIRST, THEN THE WORLD. Don't lick my hand.."
Summarized, his story is basically he once was a powerful being, with other powerful beings, their dimension was destroyed, and they flee'd to another, and swore to protect that dimension, from the same fate as their own. However, his fellow beings grew paranoid, and started killing those who could be perceived as a threat, eventually children and so on. He tried to stop them, but in his efforts to do so, he was stripped of his heavenly powers and now lives as an old man, only keeping his wings. So he fights anyone claiming a higher power or fighting in the name of the "GReater good"

Shit man that's really interesting, I like it! I can imagine he's pretty bitter about all that by now lol Shit he'd probably hate LaDue then xD She never explicitly says she's fighting for a 'greater good' but she pretty subtly portrays it. She doesn't really claim higher power but she does consider herself a bit superior to most humans, like she has better judgement than a lot of them so she's more qualified to lead and shit. She's kind of a narcissistic dick really xD Like if he came up to her all "Hey, you and your cause need to quit your shit" She'd be like "Psh, look at this special snowflake, sayin' the exact same thing everyone else is sayin'," lol

Probably. He is quite bitter, but in a guilty way? Like, the higher beings that he used to be, that ended up killing people out of paranoia, were like his family, and friends. And he used to be one before they stripped him of his power, so he feels he's just as guilty as they are, and his cookiness and bitter attitude sort of covers that. He can be very kind to people he cares about, but much like a stern grandfather. Problem is he does not trust anyone in any governing position or with any power at all. However he does not hold that much resentment for those who follow people in power, since he sees them more as victims, Although that can chang depending on the person.
I can see him having a good deal of sympathy in sort of a condescending parental kind of way? Like the more she insists that "Oh you special and just brainwashed" he would be just be more convinced she's all caught up, like he once was.

LaDue: Get offa me you old fart.
Gabriel: Respect your elders you lil turd.
I'm trying to find a good way to portray the way he speaks, since I originally imagined him having a very deep Spanish accent, and choppy English at best.
