Indeed. My mum got married in a similar dress.

That was back in the 1980s, when this sort of wedding dress was starting to come into fashion. She's always loved wearing dresses with large skirts; she has a crinoline that she wears sometimes that looks absolutely beautiful.

I can upload some images of dresses similar to the ones she likes wearing if you'd like.

I can see we have similar tastes when it comes to crinolines.

To me, a lady wearing one looks incredibly beautiful. The large skirt also gives a sense of scale and... power?

Not to mention in these current times, a hoop skirt is a handy tool for enforcing social distancing.

My mum's favourite one is 6 feet-the distance our government requires us to stay apart. Her biggest one is 10 feet across!

This may sound cliched, but she really does look like a princess when she wears them.

Yes, true that it's cliched
But that doesn't matter, it's still perfect to say

Thanks. She tries to persuade my dad to adopt Victorian attire to match, but he's stubbornly resisting.

No problem. My mum likes to wear a crinoline dress at least once a week; normally, it's on Sunday, though when my school had a Victorian day she'd get invited to attend, gown and all.

Not surprisingly, Sunday is my favourite day of the week in that regard. It's not without challenges, though; she finds fitting through some doorways in such a wide skirt challenging.

Heh, that is a classic dilemma with big skirts

Sitting down can also be awkward; in the biggest one she has, she has to spread her skirts very carefully.

It does; usually her dress consists of the hoop itself, 3-4 underskirts to help maintain the shape, and finally the dress itself on top of that.
She sometimes asks me to help her do up the outer dress, so I have a very good understanding of how they fit together.

She's also quite well known locally for it. Our next door neighbours have two little girls, and the parents were rather confused when their daughters kept talking about 'the princess next door'. So, they came over to try and figure out what's going on.
Sure enough, my mum answers the door, dress and all, and is happy to explain everything.

She's been a feature of their lives ever since.
She sometimes also appears as Disney Princesses. The most impressive one is Giselle from Enchanted; specifically, her wedding dress.

You should have seen it; it goes without saying, but the skirt on that is huge, and apparently it also weighs a fair bit. But mum enjoys wearing it as it reminds her of her actual wedding dress (which she hasn't worn since her wedding day for obvious reasons).

It is. It has four or five layers. The one that people ask about the most is her yellow one, as that one has the perfect dome shape often associated with hoopskirts.

I saw you favourited the upload I did of that particular dress. Not, that isn't her wearing it.
Ever in a creative mood, she's started work on a new one in lockdown. It's a replica of Belle's ballgown from Beauty and the Beast.

Same. She estimates it'll be done by Christmas. Not only that, a friend of mine likes wearing crinolines as well-partly thanks to my mum.

She came over my house when mum was wearing one of the dresses. Not only was she enthralled, she asked for tips on how to make her own.
Safe to say, she looks great in a crinoline.
