Thanks.
He was one of the friendliest & most photographically cooperative stars there. I wasn't in line for an autograph, I was just standing next to the divider rope beside the signing tables. Some of the stars there were so busy talking with the autograph hounds in their lines, they hardly had more than a second or so to look at the sidelines. Of course, that's part & parcel with the "business" of autograph signing. A star's image is their product & they are there to make $. There's no direct financial gain for any of them to look at the masses passing by the railing. John was close to the rail to begin with, but he went out of his way to look at & smile for photos by the fans huddled at the rail.
There were other stars there that weren't anywhere near that cooperative.

He was a very cooperative subject and a good sport.
Even though I wasn't his autograph line, he still took the time to look & smile for the shots of those of us standing at the nearby railing.

I appreciated and thanked him for the cooperation.
Yes, there were some there that despite fielding the occasional odd questions, realize that it's not just their ability to perform the role, but the critical mass of their fans that give them better position in their industry.
There were other "stars" in attendance there that just didn't seem to grasp exactly what the FAN part of FANexpo is all about.
I got the impression last year that I was getting lumped into the "possible paparazzi" category as I was one of the few walking around with pro level gear, and not just snapping pics with my cell phone.

Thanks.
You're another Whovian ya say
LOL! Do ya have a sonic too?
I not only have the trio from the customizable set I got at FanEXPO 2012,
but I've also managed to find River Song's Future Sonic Screwdriver as well.
It doesn't have the range of sounds that triple set has, but it has the red and blue settings as well as the hidden Neural Relay Indicator just like the one in "Silence of the Library" & "Forest of the Dead".

Yes, I'm a LONNNNNNNNG time Whovian.
LOL! My original introduction to the Doctor was screen legend Peter Cushing in the 1966 movie "Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D."
I know how you feel about the regens.
I've watched the show (when it's been broadcast in Canada) since the Doctor's third incarnation.
My first television Doc was that ruffled shirt, ascot wearing dapper dresser, John Pertwee.
((Yes, I even remember the first on screen use of the Sonic - as a glorified garage door opener. The Doc used it to open a hangar door to park "Bessie", his sound barrier breakin, bright yellow antique roadster.))
I knew the Doc changed when he got seriously hurt and like you thought I'd never be able to get used to a new actor playing the roll.
It didn't take long for Tom Baker's big hat, long coat and crazy scarf wearing Doctor persona to win me over.
Surrounded by a horde of ray gun toting aliens bent on the destruction of the human race, the fourth Doctor reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small paper bag...
"Anybody care for a Jellybaby?" he says with a big smile.
LOL! What's not to love?
I guess that first transition might have been easier because the very popular Elisabeth Sladen's "Sarah Jane Smith" character stayed
and of course, a few years later, Tom's Doc also got that wonder of technology, K9.
My appreciation dropped with the next few doctors.
Peter Davison's 5th was Ok, but seemed more an out of place cricket fan than a TARDIS pilot.
My approval dropped a bit more with the 6th, Colin Baker and his funky Technicolor coat.
Sylvester McCoy's 7th lost me (and many Whovians as the series got canceled)
I thought the series was gonna end permanently with #8 since there was so little footage beyond a single movie. The books, comics and magazines carried on the TimeLord tradition though.
Chris Eccleston was good as the 9th Doc, but I just couldn't get into that buzz cut hair style.
Dave Tennant was an incredible choice to revitalize the franchise. LOL! to paraphrase him, I thought the tenth doc was "Brilliant" Molto Bene! Allons-y!
I was sad to hear he was leaving. I loved that they brought back some of the old characters during his stay though. I was absolutely thrilled to see them bring in Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott. I remember him from his appearance in that first 1966 movie.
((Have you seen the special "for charity" insert mini-episode where the TARDIS of Tennant's Doc 10 and Peter Davison's Doctor 5 temporarily get fused together?))
I had my doubts that such a youthful actor as Matt would fit the bill, but he's turned out to be an awesome 11th Doctor. Amy and Rory are every bit as perfect a historic pair of companions for him as Sarah Jane.
The intro of Melody Pond...
err I mean car thief Mel...
AUGH! I mean River Song...
and trying to keep their interactions straight is a real head spinner.
John Barrowman here is a nice guy and very cooperative with fans. He looked at and would smile for the fan cams. (There were a few other stars present that day who's attitude seemed almost hostile toward cameras. Not my imagination either. I found out from others who went that my experiences were NOT isolated instances.)
I will admit, I'm not that big a fan of Capt. Jack.
Bouncing in & out of Whovian realms, it wasn't too bad,
but when he moved to Torchwood though, they spent an awful lot of story time with him getting laid (usually with Yanto).
Even with the switched sexual polarity and adding the sci-fi angle, it got old fast.
LOL! Personally, I got more than enough of the protagonist's sexual exploits as a plot device with decades of 007.
(It's also a major change from the nearly zero sexual exploits of the residents of Whoville.)
