In this case the HDR is more to bring out details than increase dynamic range, the lighting was pretty even when i shot it.

I was just bitching around a little with this hdr stuff. In fact a decent hdr. Not too loud I´ve photographed plenty like this subjects, sculptures somehow... bit depressing, I don´t know. Nice work though.

thank you very much! I think shooting in HDR is often about restraint, and knowing when you're going a bit overboard with the post processing (I've certainly been guilty of going too far many times myself).  I've always been really into shooting urban/industrial stuff, it can be a bit gloomy for sure, but there's something about that kind of environment that i find really inspiring as well.

Indeed inspiring, but hard to describe. I often went to a junkjard near my place, lots of old mashines, diggers... loved shooting there on a sunday, no workers there. Almost poetic atmosphere for sure. But isn´t it just manouvering between dead material. Could there be a bad impulse to one´s life? Beauty of decay... or the passion to freeze in a certain state of rotting.

I know what you mean, and beauty of decay is a good way to describe it, but I look at some of that stuff as being about rebirth as well. Often in abandoned places for example plants will start growing inside, or a city sidewalk might crack, but it's because a trees roots are pushing it out of the ground. You can say a lot of things about mans' relationship with the environment, the flipside of a society where we view most objects as disposable, or even tell a story through random items found strewn about in an area.  I suppose some of those are indeed negative things, but one could argue that they could also carry a positive message in some ways

Oh yeah, that is sweet said. It´s about looking at the underdog stuff, which can be really inspiring. And the not so shiny clear world we live in. Kind of romantic feelings and always a retrospect into something that has been. A very special feeling surrounds this places, I really like. Just win some positive reflects. At least there is a lot calm in abandoned places.
