Description I used both oil and soft pastels. Soft's my favorite.. on pastel velour pad - you should check it out ---> www.ebay.com/itm/Vic-Bearcroft… Such an unusual, soft paper. I love it, though I must say it's a little hard to use my finger to blend. The colors cling to the velvety surface, but I do recommend this paper.

Thanks! I did not like my pastel drawings either... but I've practiced and learnt from my mistakes. Just be patient and try not to use too much black, colors are more alive for Tintin's skin I first added a layer of light yellow, red, and blue and redish brown (for shading) and I also used grey and finally white. It's just wonderful, I should use pastels more often...

Thank you a lot for kind advices! I think it will really work   Almost all of my pictures got destroyed after I had added black, how is it possible that I haven't got this idea before?

you're welcome hehe, I have exaggrated myself, many times... too much black and white gel pen... I didn't realise it until my teacher told me to stop

Look at him. Such a cutie!
I love the effect one can achieve with combining pastels. Sadly, I lack the patience and useful surface for doing so. (I only have cheap paper....) But you've done a wonderful job with this. His facial shape looks so  realistic! And I love his somewhat dreamy expression.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your comment. Yes, sometimes I struggle to be patient, but this time it was so fun. It's so wonderful to draw whit pastels

btw, I updated the drawing, put in some more color and fixed his eyes a bit... I'm more pleased now
