Description Entry #39! The Samoan Demon Yoomanga!

Height: 105 meters
Mass: 73,000 tons

Powers:
- Volcano Blast: From his mouth, Yoomanga can unleash a blast of thick smoke, fire, and burning lava. He only has limited supplies of lava at any given time before he’s force to replenish his reserves (IE: eating lava). He can generally use about eight to ten blasts, depending on the length in which he fires.
- Super Strength: Yoomanga’s legend doesn’t come from the fact that he’s a demon gone good, but instead his super strength. Before he switched sides, he and Argus once fought and the demon held his own longer than even Darklore could in a straight up brawl. This means he has tremendous strength, able to lift up well over 200,000 tons!
- Black Hole: Yoomanga’s most powerful attack is the ability to create a miniature black hole within his belly. The bluish tattoo on his stomach will begin to swirl and glow before actually turning into a black hole. Like normal black holes, Yoomanga’s will swallow up anything unfortunate to be standing before him, growing bigger as it does. He can close this hole at will, but if left open long enough, it could very well eat up the entire planet. Likewise, he can also pull out objects that he’s sucked up or been keeping inside.

Weakness: None

Biography: If one is a religious person, you’d call Yoomanga a demon. If you’re a science person, you’d call him an “outer-dimensional extraterrestrial being” or an OEB. Be it whatever you are, Yoomanga originates from another dimension that could very well be called “Hell” to the general public. A so-called demon, Yoomanga is a legend of his kind, a one-of-a-kind “power demon” capable of outdoing Darklore in a straight up fight and able to hold his own against the most physically strongest entity of them all: Argus.

When Darklore originally lead a campaign against another dimensional, which could very well be described as Heaven to a religious person, Yoomanga was one of the creatures that was by the demon lord’s side. When the invasion reached the mythical city, Yoomanga was unleashed on Argus himself.

The two battled and, to Darklore’s surprise, Yoomanga held his own for over an hour as the two traded blows that silenced even the loudest of thunder. Both warriors bloodied and broken from their devastating strength, Yoomanga’s tattooed stomach began to surge with power as he readied to destroy the entire city, and Argus, with his black hole. As Argus watched on in horror, his arm broken and his body weakened, Darklore also watched on, realizing that Yoomanga was about to destroy what he all-so desired to rule.

Without a second thought, the demonic Darklore attacked Yoomanga! The black hole closed, but the battle between the demons, the first fight of its kind, rocked the golden city of light before a God’s eyes. Yoomanga, however, was weak from his battle with Argus and, with a blow to the forehead by Darklore’s mace, the demon was knocked out cold. However, as Darklore prepared to finish off the mighty demon, Argus suddenly burst through the ruins, his fist glowing with mighty power as he delivered a devastating punch to Darklore’s head. Almost knocking the demon lord’s head straight off his shoulders, Argus forced the demon to retreat…

But Darklore retreated to Earth!

As Darklore tried to convert the planet to darkness so that he could spawn a new, even more terrible army, Argus’ servants healed Yoomanga. Even Argus knew that he couldn’t take Darklore alone should he succeed in creating a new force, and also knew there was no way to keep Yoomanga out of this war now. And thus the truest example of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” came to be.

When the demon awoke in a daze, his body still hurt from the two battles, but his life was spared. It took massive amounts of coaxing, but Yoomanga’s allegiance changed and he became the first ever demon to oppose Darklore. Along with Argus, Yoomanga headed to Earth to face his betrayer head-on.

When on Earth, the two were joined by a Deity, virtually a guardian placed on the Earth by “Heaven” to protect it from outside, unnatural forces to this universe. Darklore was well underway at spreading his carnage, but the three opposed him and his twisted creations. They were no match for the trio. Not yet anyway.

The three beings challenged Darklore directly, and while it was Argus whom battled the mighty demon lord, Scutes had created a massive category four tornado that was quickly engulfed in fire and lava by Yoomanga’s volcano blast. The demon shouted in fury and lashed out, almost killing Scutes before throwing Yoomanga to the side with a powerful blast of surging energy.

Argus, however, was soon back in action and the pair again began to do battle. On the ground below, Yoomanga snarled and decided to summon aid from the one creature that he knew could not only defeat, but actually imprison, Darklore forever: Orochi, but he’d need Argus’ help.

Removing an ancient book, the Necronomicon, out of his tattooed stomach, Yoomanga and Argus combined the opposite powers to summon the legendary creature known as Orochi. Busied with the ruthless assault by Scutes’ hurricane winds and tornadoes, Darklore finally realized what was about to happen, but he could do little but watch in horror.

When Darklore finally tore himself free from the huge tornado, it was far too late. The Earth had split apart a thousand times as a creature of impossible size and scale was summoned in existence! Over ten-miles long and fifteen miles high, the great serpent shrugged off all of Darklore’s futile attempts to thwart it.

Trying to summon more and more of his fellow demons into the battleground to aid him helped Darklore little, they were all engulfed, stepped on, and crushed by Orochi’s divine power. Again Scutes called down a tornado to hold Darklore, but the demon, in his rage over what was happening, effortlessly fought his way out…

Only to again get Argus’ energized punch to the face.

The powerful blow sent the demon flying backward… right into the gaping maw of one of Orochi’s eight mighty heads! Yoomanga and the other two watched on as Darklore struggled to escape the snarling fangs of the serpent and, with a single gulp, the demon lord was swallowed, forever trapped in the unbreakable stomach of the greatest creature in all creation devoured him.

In fear, the demons summoned into this plain of existence fled in horror… all but one… One saw his chance, and as Yoomanga held the Necronomicon in his hand yet… that demon rushed in, snatching it up in his fingers before vanishing into a ball of flames. Demortis had acquired the Necronomicon! Before Yoomanga could realize what had happened, it was over. The Necronomicon was gone, and by rule of his pact with Argus, he was unable to return back to his own world or Argus’. Earth was his new home.

The battle was over, and without the Necronomicon, Yoomanga couldn’t remove Orochi from this world. Following the great serpent, Yoomanga waited for it to go into hibernation. It soon did in an area of the world that would come to be known as Samoa. Like the serpent did, Yoomanga also went into hibernation, but not before having a massive cultural impact on the evolving humans in that region.

Soon he’d become a myth, and that myth would change over hundreds, if not thousands, of years. He went to sleep miles beneath the surface of the Earth, waiting for anyone… daring for anyone… to try and awaken Orochi and free Darklore from his prison. He was guard now, and he was a damn good one.

Creative History: Ah. Yoomanga! Yoomanga! Yoomanaga! I got the idea for a Samoan-based demon a long while ago by the late WWE wrestler Umaga (he was one of my faves). His tattoos, body shape, etc. It’s all inspired by Umaga. When made, he was going to be just a bad demon originating from Samoa. He stayed like this for a while, and was going to be the same for the aborted story I had going on here for a while. It was then, however, I began to flesh out some more unique powers for him, and thus the black hole attack was made. It was after this story failed I decided to pull a Hellboy with him and make him into a demon gone good. I think it works, because as soon as Darklore’s eventually revived, he has to contend with a real force. This new version also changes some stuff. I ditched the “grass skirt” because it looked dumb and redid the entire face and head.

Pretty nice, even if you fucked up the arm.

Dah, had to remind me off Umaga and his heart-attack, din't yah?

While most of the picture is pretty good, that left arm looks a little...weird.

And personally, I can't wait till you do Orochi. 'Twould be neat to see your own version of the big guy.

An effective design, I can definitely feel the tribalness there and the hair completes the image in regards to cultural connections. The only thing I see wrong in this pic is that his left arm is bent at an impossible angle, as in backwards. I sorta see what you were trying to show there but for all intents and purposes it looks like his arm is on backwards.

Anyway, neat use of concepts.

Yeah, I ROYALLY f'd up on the arm. I was going for a "wind up" like look as if he's preparing to punch...

But it just got majorly fucked up.

Oh well lol, I think if you just remember where the elbow goes then you'll be okay. I imagine that in that pose and angle the forearm would obscure at least half of the upper arm since when the arm bends, it effectively bends in half. So at a profile angle you wouldn't see the entire arm at once. Perspective's a bitch I know, it screws with me on occasion too.
