To be honest, I saw a lot of MMD shit pictures without any logic, and the coordonate axis is not even turned off (no, I'm not referring to work in progress stuff, that is a whole different thing).
But hey, calling the whole MMD issue shit (including those pictures edited in Photoshop to look good), you really have to be out of your minds. It's like calling, I don't know, Cinema 4D or any other 3D program shit.
To some extent, you even call Photomanipulation "a piece of shit" indirectly.
And art is not always creative. You usually are inspired of something, like a song, or a movie, or even a state of mind (For example, my art is totally uncreative, I make art only when I listen to a song I love, which is usually dubstep or drum n bass).
People are so ignorant, and this gives me a headache.

It's because this program has a personification, which has been depicted above in another program called MikuMikuDance, which can also be used to make animations of various Vocaloids(the real name for the synthesizers), or make screenshots, like the picture above.

The style in which this shitty character is depicted is in the typical anime style. What would you call this style, especially when drawn, then if not anime? Funny, what kind of style would you consider the one she's drawn in. It's constantly referred to as anime. Most of what shit art people draw on here, they would call anime and yet it's not in any anime. Funny that.

I would like to mention that those MMD Models are not drawn, but 3D models made in programs such as Metasequoia (which I use), Blender, Maya, etc. There is a lot of overlapping with general 3D art, Model Ripping (and rigging) and Vocaloid (obviously).

The character portrayed is a clip from a program called Miku Miku Dance, where you can manipulate her and others to move and dance to the music created in Vocaloid, or any other songs, and some may even use it to just simply animate. It's not an official anime character, but yes, Miku is in the STYLE of anime/manga, and anyone who denies that she is in the anime style is in denial. But her and their other Vocaloid characters are not in an official anime of any kind. Vocaloid is a voice synthesizing program to manipulate melody and the voice of the program. The voice is often portrayed by a personified character. It just so happens its commonly illustrated in an anime style because it is japanese (its a common style there obviously), and all the weaboo freaks just love the style, you know?
As for this deviation, I think its uncreative in itself, why it made the front page i do not know. As a fan of Vocaloid, MMD screenshots on deviantart is really saddening, it's like screenshotting video games and posting it.
TO SUM UP: Yes, Miku is in the anime style, and it is up to the viewer if they like it or not. Miku does not have an official style, it happens to be that her box art is in an anime style, and all the fans followed that and draw her that way. Some draw her realistically. Vocaloid is not an anime, it is a program with personified voices, often illustrated in the anime style.
MMD screenshots, to me, is uncreative, and even more so if the OP cannot even draw decent anime styled art.
And people need to respect ones opinions. If ~WarriorofJesus does not like anime, then lay off, guys. You cannot change this persons opinion, but rather, give a full detail of the story behind it, maybe to clear things up. There is no trolling going on, most of you are all butt hurt over your beloved Miku. Relax, not everyone like anime.
