Oh yeah I felt SO bad when I read (and see in the movie) the flashbacks ! I always loved Snape thought, I mean, since the beginning, even when he killed Dumbledore (which is one of my favorite character as well), because, well, I trusted Dumby's judgement, and I always thought that they were something behind the "evil" appearance. But he did trigger Lilly's death, since he betrays them by saying that one of James' friend knew where the Potter family was. Anyyyywayyyy...

Oh well I don't feel bad THAT much...They would never be together because of Snape's fascination of Dark magic...But I pity him for being in love with a girl that never loved him back (she could if he didn't call her "mudblood"...) and being alone most of his life. And I pity him also because everybody always thought he was the bad guy when he wasn't...Sirius and James picked on him, but according to Remus, Snape didn't miss an occasion to picked on them too.
I guess I'm half/half. On one hand I pity him, on the other I think he kind of deserves what happened to him because he always made bad choices...if you see what I mean.
However, he's one of my favorite character.
