in-universe explanation; Grievous was not a conservative general with his forces; we know he DOES have that ability to be conservative given he lead his people in a local war; but because he had a shitloads of Droidds and new droid being built he's all "fuck it swarm their asses" - but he also has finesse and competence given how he fucked over the Core Worlds for a period of tiime!
