That despite everything; their bickering, their apparent hatred of each other, Nergüi and Zeral can get along!
Brell realises this one day when the trio were ambushed by a group of rogues. They’d not been travelling long (maybe a week of two?) and he was a little concerned with their behaviour. Nergüi was incredibly hostile towards Brell, not liking the fact that the older man took up the role of the “leader”, something Nergüi felt that he had the right to. Zeral on the other hand was completely intolerable at times, constantly ready to argue and wouldn’t allow the Cra to get close to him.
> This partially has something to do with the fact that Zeral wasn’t used to an older male authority, or older authority at all for that matter. Brell intimidated him and he wasn’t willing to open up to the older man just yet.

When they were attacked, Brell initially went on the defensive, telling the boys to take refuge in a nearby forested area. But both Nergüi and Zeral surprised him though, by instinctively grouping together and defending each other, almost as if they were lifelong comrades. What Brell didn’t know was that both of them had been bullied as children and older, bigger kids, had often taken to ganging up of the two. They had grown used to backing each other up in a fight, and the rogues were simply a reminder that people out there were going to try and hurt them. It didn’t take them too long to scare the threat off, as the rogues expected an easy looting.
Brell spent most of that fight shocked, and just watching the Pandawa and Xelor working together like the true friends they were meant to be. A part of him just thought “Huh! So they can get along after all…” 8D

Let’s just say after that, dad-Brell let the two have a little more say in what they were doing, even if at times their behaviour was incredibly taxing!
