The plucky Sprite was always popular in the United States, and became a novelty due to its Frog like headlamps.Originally intended to be pop-up headlamps, BMC were unable to afford this technology and thus made them permanent fixed lamps, although this original concept did find its way in one form or another into the Porsche 928.
